Non-Diabetic low blood sugar, help!

May 06, 2016

I don't have diabetes. I was sleeved on 4/4 and have lost 34 lbs (HW was 277).

The last few days I've woken up shaky. I decided to test my blood sugars - this morn it was 58 - anything below 70 is considered hypoglycemic. I got up, drank a little bit of juice and 1/2 a protein shake and it went to about 72 an hour or so later. Ate some chicken salad made with greek yogurt for actual breakfast. FFWD a few hours and my blood sugar was 52!

My surgeon said its not unlikely for WLS to develop reactive hypoglycemia - but that is caused from eating carbs. I'm just now 5-6 days into my pureed food diet and I haven't been eating carbs. Yesterday I had 9g of carbs that came from my Protein shakes - ones that are approved by them. I also had 510 calories and like 68 g of protein.

What is going on? Anyone else deal with this? It sucks, it's scary and it makes me feel like crap!

Non-Diabetic low blood sugar - help!

May 06, 2016

Firstly, I did mention this to my surgeon who seemed to brush me off a bit. But at my appt last week I didn't have any blood sugar readings for him, only told him I wake up feeling shaky and weak.

I drank a little bit of juice, drank about 1/2 of a protein shake and it didn't go up much. I ate two eggs and it was like 72....ffwd a few hours and it was 52!

Left back pain 6 days post op

Apr 10, 2016

I'm having really bad back pain on the lower left and it kind of extends up to the bottom of my ribcage (still on the back).

I have read this can be normal, but damn does it hurt. Did anyone else experience this? Do you think it really is normal? Nothing seems to help. Pain pills and a heating pad only help mildly.

i totally overdid it yesterday too. Someone please advise!
