LESS THAN A HUNDRED TO GO!!!

Aug 11, 2010

I can't believe it! Wow I am so proud of myself right now, well from January when I started this process!!!LOL

Went to my family physician yesterday and weighed in at 258 lbs. But this morning, I weighed again just to be sure and it said 255 lbs. 3 lbs difference but at least its under my last stretch.

My body is showing curves that I never thought I had; lol Looking forward to the end results, hopefully by my 1st anniversary.

Lastly, although my BMI shows me as extremely obese, I am not getting stares of disgust anymore, but more stares of interests! More men are noticing me; although its something that many women would love, but its making me feel weird. I guess its gonna take some time to adjust.

Four Months Out

Jul 24, 2010

Here I AM...Enjoying every minute of it!!!

So I am continuing my WL journey in good spirits. I am still attempting to get my protein and water down effectively. Still trying to find balance between eating, work, exercise and home life. The kids are loving the change; always helping me prepare my foods, help with exercise, etc. THANK YOU KIDDIES; MOMMY LOVES YOU ALL!!!
Today was dreadful; experience my first gas bubble. Yesterday afternoon, I started feeling pain in my back, on the left side. The pain increased overnight and started affecting my arm. Went to Wal-Mart to buy Gas X, and asked the pharmacist if the kind I got would be effective. Man started to get me concerned, telling me if the pain is effecting my breathing, I should get it checked out. Went to urgent care, got x-rays done and results came back with nothing. The emerg doctor told me it could be muscle related and told me to apply heat and take Ibuprofen. Explained to her that I couldn't have Advil, and then she suggested Tylenol.
So went home and applied heat, skipped the Tylenol. Woke up feeling not that bad, but had a hot beverage and now am feeling alot better. I knew it was gas!
Needless to say, I am now able to shop in regular stores, goodbye Pennington's/Additionelle. I can fit in size 24 comfortably and size 3x shirts. Some things are baggier than others, depending on the make. Feeling good and that's pretty much all that counts!
Next steps; are to try out fitness kickboxing, zumba classes.

Later OH Fam; until next month.

THREE MONTHS OUT - PROGRESS IS SUCCESS!!!

Jun 17, 2010

Hello to All,

I am 12 weeks out!!! AMEN! Yes I have made it thus far and doing great.  I am continuing to feel energetic, healthy and most importantly loving ME!
This has definately been an adventure, learning about my new body and healthy livng. I am glad I have OH and the wonderful friends to support and provide such great ideas. I weighed in at 273 lbs this week. I have introduced salad and its doing okay.
I enjoyed my vacation to Jamaica. My honey did notice me but he is thrilled with the changes. I had a "WOW" on the way back from JA. I was able to fit into the seatbelt without getting an "extend belt"!!! YAY I feel real good about that.
Tomorrow I start my personal training. I am looking forward to it cause with the changes comes hanging skin and I'm not fond of it at ALL!
My eating is progressing. I need to find more ways to get in my protein. I should rephrase that: I need more protein." Food is boring for me. I'm eating the same thing, chicken, turkey, some beef, just boring. Im afraid to try things, I see new interesting recipes and Im afraid of getting dumping. Still struggling with my water intake, I think that will be continuous for me though. The amount of water they want you to intake and restrictions on when to drink and eat, its a little complicated for me.

Until next month,

Jenn

TWO MONTHS--FEELING GREAT!!!

May 16, 2010

Well Everyone it's been awhile but I've returned to work and I'm still trying to find a balance between work/home/exercise/social!
I am now back to eating all solids but in a new, healthy way!!! Thank you RNY.
I am feeling really good. NO vomiting (knock on wood), chewing real good and so far everything seems to agree. Need to work on the usual things for me,, drinking alot of water, taking vitamins and not to eat too fast (still happens). Overall, I feel energetic and wanting to do more things.
I cleaned out my closet the other day, and donated all the clothes that looked really baggy on me.
I'm currently weighing in at 284 lbs (ticker is not editing). I am focusing on my toning (legs/arms) and going to start my pilates with my ball to strengthen my back and stomach.
Going to Jamaica again next week for a week to see my honey; I wonder if he'll notice me when I come out of the airport???
Well hope everyone is doing well with their journey.
Until next time,
Jenn

THREE WEEKS OUT --- ONE MORE GOAL ACCOMPLISHED!!!

Apr 06, 2010

Well today I am three weeks out and am feeling WONDERFUL!!!
I weighed this morning and I am soooooo happy! I am finally under 300lbs!!! Wooot Wooot!!! I am 295; bringing my total weight loss down to 31lbs. I am so estatic and so proud of myself right now! I am on top of the world and nothing can bring me down off my cloud. I thank God for giving me the strength to succeed and the power to keep going on an everyday basis.
So now to talk about my food journey. Hasn't been easy getting in all of the protein I am supposed to be. I am currently supposed to be on Full fluids, BUT have moved myself back and forth from Puree. I eat scrambled eggs, cream of wheat, canned chicken w/mayo, cream soup, SF pudding/jello, have even tried a little of jamaican whole wheat hardo bread. Anything with texture, I chew the crap out of it, and everything has gone down nicely and I haven't felt funny at all.
I just found that the Full fluid diet was not holding me. I tried the Isoflex protein drink, but it made me feel funny. I called back the nutrition store and the worker told me its probably because my body wasn't absorbing the isolates and it was going right through me. She recommended I try a product called "Quattro" which has a slower isolate that will stay longer in my system.
With my excercise, I try and get out almost everyday and walk Bayfront Park. Since we've had some rainy weather its been real hard, but I can say that since my surgery, I have found so much energy again. Before I was always tired, didn't want to do much but lie around. NOW, I've found the kitchen again! Everyday I am in cooking my kids healthy meals from scratch, washing dishes, sweeping, doing laundry and feeling really good about it as well.
I thank you all for your support and encouraging words. I can't say it enough. I am so glad that I've found OH and enjoy my friend's journeys and support greatly.

Until next time,
Jenn

ONE WEEK POST-OP

Mar 25, 2010

Well I had my one week check up today. Met the dietician and nurse. Went over my diet plan that I am on along with the vitamins I am taking. The dietician encouraged me to drink a little more (2 litres). I'm just over intaking 1 litre, so I'm trying to get in my last breakfast drink.
So we went on to do my measurements. They compared my current weight to the weight I was before surgery. So in total from then til now, I've only lost 8 lbs. Not really concerned, glad I was able to get my liver size down to get the surgery done, but don't understand why Im now 5 lbs up? Not concerning myself with it, as I really thought that three weeks on Optifast was unhealthy and now since the surgery, I will be losing healthy weight.
I've started walking 1.5 km each day (unless its crappy outside) and it feels good. Still getting a bit of tightening in the left side, but I know its just the muscle. Still have some gas left in my stomach and my legs are swollen, so I know the walking will help move them out of my system.
Can't wait til next week to get in some yogurt, pudding and strained cream broth!
That will be a difference in taste for me and I now I will do better and looking forward to the change!
Next follow-up will be in 4 weeks!

Til then,

Jenn

I'M A LOSER!!!! YAY

Mar 19, 2010

Hello Everyone,

I am home and doing well. My surgery was a success and no complications thus far. Praise God. He really delivered me through and have given me so much encouragements to overcome my fears. I went in very joyful and full of positiveness and I did wonderful. Was a little nervous on the surgery table, but overcame it quickly, knowing my surgeon was very experienced and very welcoming.Recovery went okay. I woke up feeling a little nauseous but was just excited that I made it. My daughter was very supportive and stayed with me, waiting outside during surgery and was by my side as I was coming out of the anesthetic. It was really funny, looking back remembering her talking to me and me answering her, but quickly falling back asleep. Gosh I love her so much.
I thank all my friends and especially Leza and OH friends for being really supportive with your words of encouragement and kind words.
My hospital stay was pretty good, considering I had a woman beside me that had a colostomy bag, that's all I have to stay.... The nurses were very kind and helpful.
So I'm home on modified fluids and doing good. I had a big bruise come up on my belly around the incision they did the major work on, but called the oncall doctor and he said it was fine. I'm actually giving myself my own injections (overcame that) and following everything by the book. My only issue is the diarrhea. My stomach is sooo gassy and it always hits you at the wrong times.
But everything is fine.
Talk to you all sooon......

ST.PADDY'S DAY; MY BIG DAY!!!

Mar 15, 2010

TWO MORE SLEEPS... yes I will be over on the losers bench 48 hours from now.

I am very excited and know I will be in good hands of my surgeon and the Lord. I have been inspired by my good friend Leza who had given me the opportunity to share her experience and has reassured me to stay positive and everything will be good.
This week is very eventful for me and the kids; Im going to be a divorced woman, my son's 3rd birthday is on St.Paddy's day and I am going to be a loser! LOL Can't believe I am actually getting a second chance at life with my children. My children are very supportive and I just want them to know that I love all of them very much and I look forward to spending more time with them. I am preparing to give them a real active and fun months ahead. Last week at work, I won a $200 gift certificate for Great Wolf Lodge! I am planning to actually buy a bathing suit (never done that before) and actually go with them and have so much fun!!!
On my first day of clear fluids and I'm surviving it. Two more days and I can start my journey; can't wait!!!
Thank you for all your encouraging words and support.

Mar 07, 2010

Well I'm on my last stretch of the optifast! It has been a battle well fought and can say it wasn't that bad (the optifast). The head hunger is the worst thing I've been through thus far (scope was a breeze compare to this!)LOL
I'm not going to say that I've been perfect, cause I haven't :( I did cheat a few times on little things, and I pray to God, it doesn't put my surgery back.

So this has been my journey:

Bloodwork: Jan.19/10
Nurse/dietician
social worker: Jan.27/10
Ultrasound: Feb.2/10
Medicine Internist: Feb.8/10 (got Vitamin D prescription + Iron)
Met Surgeon: Feb.18 (got Optifast +prescription)
Scope: Feb.26/10
Pre-op: Mar.10/10
Surgery: Mar.17/10

Can't wait to cross over and be on the losing side!

I AM DIVORCED!!!!

Mar 01, 2010

I called Family Court today to find out if my order had been signed by the judge and sure enough, IT HAS!!! I am soooo excited! I went home for lunch and it had arrived in the mail. My 30 days ends March 16/10, the day before my surgery. I will not only start  my new life journey on my weight loss, but will also be SINGLE! I am filled with joy right now. Just thought I would share.
BTW, I am on my 2nd week on Optifast, and things are going great. I did have a breakdown on Saturday, craving foods really hard, but l survived. I think l am missing the chewing sensation. I know l can get it through chewing gum, but l'm trying to cut it out for after the surgery.
Bye for now.
