32 months with the band and I'm in LOVE!

Nov 15, 2010

So, I've been a real bad, bad, slacker and haven't blogged or checked out OH in very LONG time.  It's time for me to get back on the wagon!
I am sooo very proud of myself, yes, I do give myself a pat on the back from time to time and I've now lost a total of get this... 172 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's not easy, every day is a "struggle" but I CHOOSE to make the RIGHT choices for myself and I avoid bad situations.  Honestly, it's as simple as that---- the key to MY success.  It does not work for everyone, everyone is different, the man above made us all unique.  This is my way.
EXCERCISE, EXCERCISE, EXCERCISE--- the band is only a TOOL and the Gastric Bypass and Gastric Sleeve Gastrectomy for that matter.  If you don't move your body and muscles, how do you expect to lose weight.  IF YOU LIVE LIKE A SLUG--- YOU WILL KEEP ON BEING A SLUG! Sorry, I tend to be more honest now and days.
EAT RIGHT--- I'm sorry but I got heavy for a reason, I USED to eat like crap!  I avoid having bad stuff in my house.  I never deprive myself, I just have a taste of something to get rid of the cravings but a small bite is a bite.... not a full "serving."
I follow the plan that my surgeons set forth and I stick to it.  They gave me this wonderful opportunity/gift and I don't take it for granted.  They've also given me this wonderful opporunity to further my career in as a nurse, and I can now teach/help more patients that are out there!  I am truly blessed to have a wonderful support system consisting of my wonderful husband, surgeons, family, and friends (my true friends who have stuck by me since before surgery.)  Without them, I wouldn't be the person I am today.

If you have any questions or are in need of a shoulder to cry on... PM me!

5 months have passed...

Jul 23, 2008

I can't believe it, but it's been 5 months and 2 days since my new birthday and it's been a wonderful rollercoaster thus far!  People constantly PM me how I lost over 90 lbs in such a short time and I tell them I follow the "RULES."
I'm a nut and overachiever so PLEASE do not use me as a model in weight loss... the average is losing 1-2 lbs a week and I know I far exceed that, I'm basically losing like a gastric bypass patient but also you got to understand I am a bariatric nurse too that works closely with my surgeon and other surgeons and they are monitoring me closely.  If I was not healthy, they would let me know or I would let them know!
So people do want to know how I did it so here it goes....
-I eat between 1000-13000 calories a day depending on how much I excercise
-I work out everyday, sometimes twice a day burning off at LEAST 800 calories a day
I mix it up between elliptical machine 45 minutes to burn 800 calories, running/jogging up to 3 miles depending on the humidity outside, or I have a Tonny Little Sprint Master machine that I bought off HSN for about an hour to burn that 800 calories
- I don't eat sugars/ carbs simply for the fact that i can't tolerate them
-I make sure to eat something fresh with each meal fruit and or a veggie
-take my vitamins ritually and calcium too
-I need to take biotin daily for losing my hair... I take 5000 mcg a day
-I drink LOTS of water.... I pee like a racehorse all the time!  =)

and that's basically it...

trying to add pics to this thing but won't let me  =(
