Jun 28, 2009

Well it's been a month of waiting and waiting.  I finished all of my pre-screening test on May 11th, I found out on June 12th that the OSU Bariatric committee approved me for the surgery program.  Now I just have to wait for the insurance approval and go to 4 dietician appts.
It seems the woman who does this step of the process is on vacation and won't be back until the week of June 22nd.  I gave her a few days but started leaving message last Thursday and Friday.  I'm really anxious to get the ball rolling.  My parents are driving for AZ in September to visit me and by BF and I really want to have my surgery done and many weeks behind me so they can see a difference.  The hardest part for me so far is having patience.   Hopefully I will hear something this coming week and I can complete the rest of my pre-op work.

I'm continuing to gather lots of great advice from the message boards and preparing myself for life after surgery.  I have been making a list of questions for the surgeon, ordering samples of protein powders.  My new favorite drink is FUZE strawberry melon - I love this but realize it won't give me any protein but helps with giving up soda.  I'm excited and ready to start the next phase of my life.

Stress Test Complete

May 16, 2009

I had my stress test on Monday - why is it the young intern girls prepping you are the tiniest things ever.  Oh well!  Everything started out great and then all of a sudden the treadmill just stopped, no warning.  This happened three times the joke was that the room had a ghost because weird things have been known to go on there.  After 45 minutes of waiting for the other treadmill to become available we started again - all my fears were put too rest.  I was surprised that I was able to complete the test and went up to the highest elevation level, now granted I was only at 3 miles/hr and getting very winded at the end.  But I was proud of myself that I did it.

That afternoon I went to the other side of the OSU campus to complete the psych. evaluation - I felt I was back taking tests in highschool with all the different type test they give you.  Good news is Dr Kramer says he believes I'm ready and can handle the surgery.

Now it's a waiting game - I need to wait for letter from the Baratric doctor stating all my evaluations are great and i can on to my 4 dietician appts and have my surgery scheduled.  I feel like a little kid running to the mailbox each day after work.

Hope all is well for everyone else and I will keep the updates coming.

Last week I went in for the first part of my evaluation appointments - I saw the nurse practioner and the dietician.  All went well and I have never been more excited to start my journey.  Tomorrow morning I have to take a stress test (which I'm a little worried about as i can't walk on a treadmill w/out getting winded).  In the afternoon I have my psych evaluation.

Once tomorrow is over then i wait a week to see if I can continue with the program.  My insurance only requires me to attend 4 dietician sessions and then I can have my surgery.  If all goes as planned I could be having surgery by the end of June beginning of July.  I can't wait -
