Where has the time gone????

Jul 04, 2007

Wow!!  I can't believe it's been over a year since my WLS!!!  I'm now down over 150 pounds - yay!!!!  And a week before my 1 yr anniv, I found out that I'm pregnant with my first 'little one'!!
I really thought I was going to get yelled at because it has not been the 2 yrs that they recommend, but trust me - it was an oops, but then God does not make mistakes.  We are so excited!!!  Everything is progressing well with my 'little bean' and I have my first OB appt next Friday, 7/13.
In other news, my hubby is having WLS this fall - possibly in September.  He's completed his sleep study and has been on the CPAP machine for over a week now.  Barix tried to call the other day, but my darling step-son apparently forgot to let us know that we had a call.  So I'm hoping that my hubby can get something scheduled today.
Wish I had more, but I'm pretty tired from the July 4th activities, but just wanted to pop-in and give a quick update.
Take care!!!

6 months post-op!!

Dec 05, 2006

Well, I had my 6-month post-op consultation yesterday.  It went really well, and they show that I am down 102 pounds!!  It is still so exciting to see those numbers on the scale!!  I had to stop in the lab when I was done with my appointment to get some blood drawn since I didn't know that I was supposed to have had it done before my appt.  Oh well, I just hope everything comes out ok and that I don't need to add any additional pills to my daily regimen.  They preached the 3 'F's to me, more Fluids, more Fiber and more Physical activity.  Ok so the last one doesn't start with an 'F', but as the 'F' sound to it.  LOL!!  So now I have to sit down with my hubby and get a good game plan in place to help me meet these goals.
All in all I still feel really good, but I have noticed some inconsistency in my bowel movements and mentioned this to Dr. Bates.  They are going to have me come back and see Dr. Vig later this month just to follow-up and see if it could be surgery related or just a simple diet change will do the trick.
Well, I'm getting ready to go into an all-day training class - Yay!!  I'm already yawning - Lord, please keep my eyes open today!!

I DID IT!!!!

I HIT MY FIRST GOAL!!  I HAVE LOST 100 POUNDS!!!!!
Wow- what a feeling when I saw that number on my scales yesterday!!  I had to bring my hubby in the bathroom to show him.  He is so proud of me!!  I was really wanting to hit the 100 lb mark before my 6-month anniv, and that is next Tues.  Woo hoooo!!!!  I feel so great and the weather here has been so nice that I was able to get out and do some walking yesterday.  Plus we decorated the house over the weekend putting all the Christmas decorations around the house and put the lights up outside.  It looks so good!!  I love Christmas time, and the radio station I listen to has been playing Christmas music for a couple weeks now.  Some people have been complaining that it's too early, but how can it ever be too early to celebrate Jesus' birth.  After all, Jesus IS the reason for the season!!
God Bless!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Nov 21, 2006

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I posted a blog in here!!  And it's almost Thanksgiving!!  To tell you the truth, I'm getting a little bit intimidated by these upcoming holidays.  I know that we'll have the usual turkey, dressing and potatoes, but it's the portion sizes that I'm worried about.  I'm going to request that my in-laws and my parents give me just a salad plate to put my food on.  I'm just afraid that I will pile up a regular plate with all this good food and then try and eat all of it.  I definitely do not want to be 'dumping' on Thanksgiving because I can't control my eating habits.  I've decided to make 2 sugar-free pudding pies to take to both houses along with some CoolWhip Free to put on top.  I figured that could be my contribution and it will be good not only for me, but for everyone else too!!
And next is Christmas.  I'm already starting to dread the holiday baking that I usually do.  I'm going to be surfing the net trying to find some alternate goodies that I can make and will be good for me.  I checked some recipes on the back of the Splenda for baking bags, and the nutritional guides are still out of line for some holiday cookies.  Christmas day at our house is just an all-day grazing event with all the candies and cookies, and then even somewhere during the day we somehow have room for Christmas dinner.
Is anyone else starting to dread the upcoming holidays??  Not the family get-togethers, but just as far as the dinners and goodies are concerned.

Happy Halloween!!  Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything.  I have no excuses.  I've been a bit bummed lately as I reached a mini-plateau.  I finally broke it a couple weeks ago, but I was really getting depressed.  But since then, I've lost another 15 pounds!!  I'm now down 92 pounds in just about 5 months!!  I'm so excited!!  My goal is to be down 100 lbs by my 6 month check-up and I only have 8 lbs in just over a month.  I think I can hit that goal!!  LOL!!  I've started doing a low-impact aerobics tape in the basement since the weather outside has been so crappy lately.  I've been doing that @ 3x/week.  I'm using one of the Richard Simmons' tapes, Disco Sweat.  I'd rather be doing the Sweatin' to the Oldies, but I can't find it.  Oh well, this will work.  I'm making it through the first 3 songs or so, and just trying to slowly get through the whole tape.  Maybe by Christmas??  We'll see.  But I'm having fun as I'm working out and that's the biggest part.  If you're not having fun and don't think of it as exercise, then it gives you a better outlook about it.
I'm still feeling really good and the clothes are getting bigger and bigger.  What a feeling to put on clothes and realize that they are almost too big for you.  I'm now able to wear @ 3x - some 4x still.  I was wearing a jean size of 34W before and now I'm down to 28WP.  I even had a bra sizing a few weeks ago when I went to pay my bill at Lane Bryant.  I asked one of the clerks if she could size me, and I'm glad she did.  I was shocked at the outcome.  Prior to the surgery I was @ 54D and now I'm 48DDD.  So I'm losing the inches around my chest, but still keeping most of my breasts (which my husband likes... hehehehe).  Sorry if this seems a little X-rated.  I'm just psyched about all the physical changes I've been seeing!!
Well, I'm going to go for now and I hope you all have a Happy and safe Halloween!!

New Beginning

Oct 14, 2006

Well, I see that OH has updated their profile information.  I thought my old blogs would flow over to this new format, but I guess not.  So let me refresh you on my journey so far...  After years of research and prayer, I had open Roun-Y surgery on June 5th, 2006.  The recovery was alot harder than I thought it would be, but I have no regrets about having gone through it.  I'm now just over 4 months post-op and down over 80 pounds; 81 to be exact.  LOL!!  My clothes are getting bigger, and I actually sold some to a plus-size consignment store this past week.  What a great feeling that was!!  I'm basically down to a size 3x or 26/28.  I can actually go to any store that has plus-sizes, like KMart or Target and find something that I can wear.  I have not been able to do that in such a long time!!  I would either have to order off of the internet or go to plus-size stores like Catherines or The Avenue.  I weight just about the same as my husband and he's starting to get a little jealous of my weightloss.   But it's not slowing me down.  I'm walking about 3x/week for @ 2 1/4 miles each time.  And I just have so much more energy!!  Even when I get home from my walks, I can still do some housework and not feel winded.  I feel like I can breathe better and deeper, and at my 4 month checkup my blood pressure was much better as well as my oxygen saturation.  My heart rate concerned me since is was only 52, but they said that rate is normal if you are active, since it's my resting heart rate.  I guess that makes sense.  My menstrual cycles are becoming more regular too.  It's like my body has just started to reset itself since the surgery and weightloss.  It's so great to actually see it on paper.
Well, that's about it for now.  I'll try better to get on here and update some more.  Until later...
