I just had my five year anniversary since my surgery and I am doing great! I have gained back more weight than I ever wanted to, but I still feel great and I am still not on any medications for anything. My weight is now 245lbs and I had to jump up to another size in clothes, but I enjoy everyday. I still can't believe I gain weight with how little I can eat but I am trying to keep it under control while still enjoying life. I talk to many people about gastric bypass surgery and what it has done for me and I always refer them to obesityhelp.com. I am blessed for what the surgery and support has done for me and I hope everyone has the success I have enjoyed! Just over five years ago, the doctors were telling me I would not be alive today, so every day is now a bonus! Terry M.

Congratulations on your anniversary. I am still pre-op and it is so nice to hear how post ops are doing a few years down the road. You give me hope and are an inspiration to us pre-ops. Thank you for keeping us updated on your progress! You are doing so GREAT and I know that you are enjoying your new life.

It has now been over two years since my surgery and all is well. No, all is great! I have been at the same weight now for over a year and it is 140 pounds lighter than I used to be. I would still love to lose another 20, but I am thrilled that I have been able to keep the 140 off. I can eat most anything I want except rice and bread, but I don't need those anyway. I still take my vitamins and some protein supplements and I don't get enough exercise, but I feel great and I am still surprising people I havn't seen for a while. I just wish I could have done this 10 years ago. Thanks for all your support!

I'm so glad to be in contact with you. I wish I knew before you had your surgery that you were a member here. I will be here to support you anytime you need me. This not an easy process, but it is well worth the outcome. Good luck Terry and I'll be right here if you need me. Love, Liza

So far so good! It is now one week since surgery all is pretty good. Up to 3/4 mile on the tread mill and managing to eat and drink everything I'm supposed to. In surgery, Dr. Roll had to call in another doctor to "scope" me due to a lymphoma on my esophagus, but determined it was safe to proceed. Still have to have some other tests to check it out though. At the end of the procedure, they had to do a chest x-ray because they could not find one of their tools. It turned up while the x-ray was taking place. At least they have a process to account for everything! I had to have a catheter and the gas pains were pretty bad my last day in and first day out, but overall it has been manageable. Staples came out today and it was a painless easy process. As far as weight loss, my high was 345 this summer, 334 on my first visit with Dr. Roll in October, 327 the week before surgery and 321 today. It is steadily moving in the right direction. I'm still looking for a good protein supplement, but have one out of five tried I can tolerate for now. Things are going well and I feel better and sleep better everyday. Two of my diabetes meds were stopped and the other one, Actos, will continue for now. Glucose levels have been between 117 and 165 for a high, since surgery. I'm glad to be here on the other side. Thanks for everyone's prayers and support!
