My Two Years Anniversary and Down the Road to Recovery

Nov 23, 2009

Hi Everybody

Last week, I post 2 years anniversary last Thursday November 19, 2007 that when I had my surgery. New begining for me with a new body and positive outlook.

I just want to say it has been a struggle for the first 3 months that I couldn't keep anything down. Finally I got a hold of my body and treat it with proper care. I know there has been some postings from different people who have different views of their recovery and some has not be successful, I have no problem since I had the surgery. Only problem was I had a bleeding ulcer like 2 months ago, that I had to be hospitalized for two days.

I finally got my hair growing back more fuller, it was no fun being bald. Right now I am under the doctor care for back problem, but I had it for years. The doctors I have seen since I been overweight at the age of 33 years old have told me if I have lose weight or had the Gastric Bypass my back will get better. But I am getting better with the injection bi weekly I will go one more time in two weeks. If it has work great! If not much then I go back in 3 months for other rounds of injections. The hard part was getting the iv in my hands or my arm because my veins do not show up, they had to numb my hands in order to insert the iv. That really hurt without the numbing the site, when the nurses do not numb my hand my hand end up black and bruise pretty bad.

People who are in the process of thinking or going through any kind of weigh loss surgery. It is not a very easy decision to make at all, of course it is a scary operation or any kind of surgery related to weigh loss has some complication or none, That why I encourage people to research about the surgery and consult with your family members as well as your friends. It is very important to have a support network to be there for you and as well as your family. It took me about 3 years to make the decision I decided to do WLS surgery back in 2004 in Portsmouth NH but the semiars were not very good information and I felt I had no confidence from the doctors at the semiars. Also it was about insurance issues. I couldn't pay for the procedure if I didn't have HMO insurance. I let it go until 2007 that when I decided that I need to go ahead with the surgery because sake of my children (I am the only survivor parent they have) They  were like 8 and 10 years old at the time. I decided to consult with my family member about the surgery, they were nervous about it so was I ! :) One of my family member went through Gastric Bypass the old kind. She had a lot of complication from after the surgery. My family member who  ask me go through the Lapband instead of Gastric Bypass. I went to the semiar at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Boston Mass. I felt very confidence and with the Doctors as Patridge and Gamurzi and there was no death rates under their care. The insurance will pay for the procedure. I felt after listen to the Doctors about the lapband Vs. the GBypass. I decided to go ahead with the GBYPASS, so I went through all the testing and counseling sessions. I was approved at the first time around and the surgery was set for November 19th 2007. I was scared and petrified, I had prepared my will, and loving letters to my children and my new husband.

Today it is November 23, 2009. I am very happy with my outlook and my life. I have graduated from CTU in Bachelor Degree in CJ 2008. Then I am currently employed with the state, also I almost done with my Master Degree in CJ/Human Services in a few months March 2010. My children are thriving and they are please with my active particapating with my children's activities in sports and school academics.

I will keep you all post in a few weeks!
Happy Holiday
