Last Will & Testament

Oct 29, 2007

Ok today I started writing my Last Will and Testament.  Did anyone else do this?  I don't want to assume the worst but I'm just making sure I have a backup in case anything does happen.  I'm not at all worried about the surgery; I've been through so many that it doesn't worry me.  But I figure since this surgery is the most serious I've had done that I should write one.  I'm also writing a letter to my husband that he should read to my family in the event of my death.  I think it's a smart idea but I wanted to know if anyone else has done this.  Please email me your responses I'm very curious.

Date changed

Oct 26, 2007

My surgeon's office just called and they had a cancellation for 4 days before my date.  so now instead of the 20th of November it's going to be the 16th.  I know it's only 4 days but it's 4 days I don't have to wait.  It's so exciting but I'm having the same feeling I had when I was pregnant.  What if something happens, or something goes wrong?  What if they call and say the insurance called and said they won't pay?  What if they need something more from me?  It just seems like it was all too easy and something is bound to go wrong.  I suppose I should just think positively for now and hope for the best.  What could go wrong in only 3 weeks?

Got a Date

Oct 25, 2007

Well I just spoke to my doctor's office and they've set the date for November 20th.  It's only 3 1/2 weeks away but I know it's going to feel longer.  Well I've waited this long so I suppose I can wait a little longer.

Everything sent in

Oct 22, 2007

Well I just got confirmation from the doctor's office that everything was sent in this morning.  Now they told me all I have to do is wait a couple week's.  God I hope it doesn't take that long.

Sending info to the insurance company

Oct 21, 2007

Last Sunday I spoke with my primary about writing a letter.  She asked me what types of problems I have and said that I could pcik the letter up the next day.  When I got the letter I opened it because I figured I had the right to seeing as it was about me.  She actually put at the end of the letter that I would benefit from the surgery.  And she is very against the surgery.  Anyway I saw my dietician that Tuesday for my normal monthly weigh-in and I gave her my primary's letter and a letter I wrote.  She said they would let Dr Cole know that he could write his letter and send everything out.  Now I just have to wait and the one things that sucks is I don't know when they are sending everything.  I called and asked them to call me when everything is sent in so I have a time frame and the woman said she would put a note on my file and she acted like they had never had anyone ask that before.  I just don't want to wait and wait and never know when.  Anyway every day I'm closer and closer.  I hope I hear something soon.

Not Much Longer

Oct 11, 2007

Ok so when I said I had insurance before I didn't actually have insurance.  We had to wait for a few things to be straightened out first to actually get covered.  I was so worried that it would take forever and that they would come back and say we weren't eligible.  Well my husband just got the call yesterday that they straightened it all out.  Now i only have to wait until next Monday and we'll be covered.  So then I can call my doctor and give him the ok to send everything to the insurance company.  So now it's just a matter of waiting to call and then waiting for an approval.  Wish me luck!

Finally have the good insurance

Oct 02, 2007

Well I found out today that I now am on my husband's insurance from work.  And the insurance they have is excellent.  I won't have to do the 6 months of weigh-in's and will most likely be approved for surgery.  I just have to make an appointment for my physical and one more with the surgeon and they'll send everything to the insurance company.  I am officially excited!  I'm just hoping that from here on out everything goes ok.  Wish me luck!

Don't give up hope!

Oct 01, 2007

Well for the last few weeks I have been pretty disappointed and almost just gave up.  My husband was laid off from his job already because of some people who didn't want to do their's.  And it's a seniority thing so, there he goes.  Anyway we thought we weren't going to be able to get insurance but this week it looks as though they took out the first payment for medical.  I was wrong; it's not $5 a week, it's like $40 a month.  So as long as the payment was for insurance and we can get a policy number then I get the ball rolling on my things to send in to the insurance company.  I'm really hoping that everything works out.

Waiting is the worst!

Aug 10, 2007

Well I had my appointment with the deitician on the 2nd.  I have to have 6 month documented weight loss with her before they will send anything in to the insurance company.  That means it will be at least February before I get a surgery date if I'm approved.  But luckily there is a positive side... my husband just got a great job with the best insurance.  It's only $5 a week and they cover everything 100%.  The great part is that they don't need 6 months documented, they only need to know that you have had a BMI over 40 for at least 2-4 years and rigorous weight loss attempts.  So my husband has to wait until he gets into the union to get the insurance.  He will be joining the union in the next few weeks and then can apply for the inurance in mid October.  So I'm hopin that I can have everything done by the end of October and get my files sent in to the insurance company by then.  And hopefully have the surgery before the end of the year.  My sons second birthday is in March and I'd like to have at least lost 50 lbs before then.  We'll see.  Wish me luck!!!
