3 1/2 month update ^_^
Jun 30, 2009
I had my Dr. Appointment yesterday. It was the first time I have seen my Dr. since getting out of the hospital and having my drainage tube taken out. Got the blood work done the week prior of course, and went in for the results. I am happy to say that I weighed in at 219, and have lost over 100lb so far ^_^ My protein and vitamin levels are awesome. He was surprised my protein was as good as it was, he said that most of his patients don't do this well this early on. Made me feel good after the week at work Iv'e had. My cholesterol has also come down to 130 from 200's, he wants me to drop to about a hundred, but he said that will happen as more weight comes off. He also busted my bubble and said no tummy tuck till at least a year out, so no sooner than March 2010. But so far he's been dead on and knows best so I am going to learn to be patient, and I still have another 70-80lbs to loose before hitting my goal weight of 135-145. But I'm so confidant I can do it and want to say thank you to everyone I know in real life and on here who have been helpful and supportive, and thank you to my DR. who is making this possible. I am so happy right now. I seriously CANNOT remember the last time I felt this good about myself.

Hi Out There...
Apr 14, 2009
This is my first time blogging since I signed up to this after I got my weight loss surgery done. To those of you who don't know me, my name is Amber and I had the Duodenal Switch done one 3-06-2009. I was 340lbs two months prior to surgery and lost 20lbs in the gym and changing my eating habits, and then the morning of surgery they weighed me in at 309lbs. I'm now down to 269lbs, and loving every moment of this wonderful surgery, knock on wood, at least except for the occassional nausea in the morning, still finding what works and doesn't lol. The surgery itself went really well, no leaks or blood clots. however a few days into my stay at the hospital, my blood pressure dropped as well as my oxygen level. went to icu for two long, sucky days, and they found out I had a sleeping apenae. (Has now fixed itself due to weight loss:) ) they also had a hard time drawing blood due to small veins and the ivs sucked. other than that it wasn't bad :) Spent another few days, begging to go home lol. Im glad they did keep me for as long as they did though, I feel it really helped.
I think the first month was the worst. I went back to work on the 23d of march, wish ide have waited another week, the morning nausea was really hard. But im almost feeling back to normal now and eating salads, and some solids when my stomach allows it. I also found i LOVE isopures to the whey mixes you can get. 40 grams of protein in one bottle and they have a bunch of good flavors. vitamins are getting to be less of a challenge as well, but still loath the adeks . in retrospect I dont regret a second of this, even the hard parts because it had given me a second chance at life.
