Delined for surgery

Feb 02, 2011

Okay folks, I know you are making some big adjustments with your bariatric surgery, but at least you got approved!  I didn't.  The surgeon said the risks outweigh the benefits.  This is hard to hear, of course.  Previous abdominal surgery, sarcoidosis of the lungs, my age and Medicare combined to make this decision.  I had been approved several times before, but my age, 66 is working against me.  I will have to rely on the old fashioned way and lose as much as I can.  I just had my third spinal surgery which has restricted activity, but I am determined to be as healthy as I can.  Good luck, everyone!

Over 60 WLS patients, talk to me!

Nov 27, 2010

I am serious about getting a sleeve at age 66.  My BMI is 38.7, down from 40.5 in the last few months.  Mobility is threatened by obesity (I am 5'2"), osteoarthritis, spinal surgery, knee surgery. And I have sleep apnea, high blood pressure--plenty of reasons to make a big step for health and longevity.  I am interested in the experiences of WLS patients in my age range.
Thanks!
