recovering well

May 31, 2015

It has been 5 days since I had my surgery. I weighed myself the morning of my surgery & I was at 305 I believe. A week before that I weighed in at 302 at my pre op appt. I cheated a lot my last week as a last hurrah. I hadn't planned on cheating as much as I did, but it's already done & I can't change it now lol. I had my surgery on Tuesday & the admitted me on Wednesday. Most patients who have a lap sleeve done stay 2 nights, but they told me that I was doing so well that I could go home if I wanted to. Of course I wanted to! The next day I think I regretted going home just because I was in a lot of pain, but that's what the pain meds are for, right? The feeling of regret definitely left. When they released me from the hospital on Wednesday, they had to weigh me. I weighed in at 311. I thought that was really weird considering I hadn't been able to eat for most of the 2 days I spent there. My family reminded me that they had pumped me full of fluids & vitamins & that made me feel better.

Thursday I weighed in at 310

Friday I weighed in at 304!!

Saturday I weighed in at 301

& today I weighed in at 300.

I am so excited to see how much more weight I will lose. I cannot wait to be healthy again. I want to be able to spend a long & happy life with my husband & our future children. My dad works in the outpatient surgery portion of the hospital where I was at. That's where they perform the surgeries & then they move us to rooms where we can stay. So, my father was there a lot of the time making sure I got the proper care that I needed. That was awesome. He practically saved me from having 2 blood thinner shots. He had this surgery done almost 2 years ago & remembered that they had given his to him while he was asleep in the OR. My nurse said it was still on her orders, but he asked her to check with the doctors to see if I had already been given one. I had. If he hadn't been there, I would have gotten another one. My mom rode with him to work both days so she could be there to support me. My pastor came the morning of my surgery & prayed with us before they took me back. He didn't leave until they came out & said everything had went well. He is an amazing man. My husband, he was a real trooper. He helped me so much. I am so thankful that I have him. He tells me that he is just doing what any good husband would, & that may be the truth, but I still really appreciate it & thank him so much for it all.

The days after my surgery when my husband had to work, my mom has come to our apartment to help out. That has been awesome. I just can't imagine doing something like this alone & I am so thankful that I don't have to. All I can say is, I cannot wait for this drain to come out on Friday. It is driving me nuts. It is so uncomfortable. My body knows it's not supposed to be there, & I can tell lol.

Overall, I have lost 23 pounds, & since my surgery I have lost 11. I think that's pretty awesome!
