Three months since TT.

Jun 02, 2015

It's been three months since my TT and everything is going well.  I've recently was laid off from my job and I'm trying to look at things in a positive prospective and not stress myself about it.  I've joined Planet Fitness so that I can get in shape for the summer.

Happy Nine Years Surgiversary

Apr 15, 2015

I can't believe that it was nine years ago on April 12, 2006 that I had my weight loss surgery.  So many things has happened.  The major accomplishment was having my son.  As an overweight person I didn't imagine myself having children.  I gave myself a certain timeframe and if I didn't have a child, then I would think about adoption as an alternative.  Well, with that being said, I became pregnant eighteen months post-op and my son has never seen me as an obese person.  I don't ever want to go back down that road, nor would I want to experience that type of lifestyle again.  My son is so busy and I couldn't imagine being able to keep up with him in my heavier days. At my lightest, I weighed about 135 lbs and  at my heaviest I was about 165 lbs.  Right now I'm about 150 lbs.  The scale is not my friend however, it does keep on track and over the years as I become more comfortable in my own skin, I look at the scale as a tool to keep me accountable for my weight.

A recent accomplishment was having a tummy tuck six weeks and two days ago.  The first couple of days were tough and extremely uncomfortable, but it does get better with time and the end results will be worth it.  My clothes fit a lot better and I can't wait until the summer when I can wear those cute summer dresses.

Week 4

Mar 30, 2015

It's been four weeks since my tummy tuck and what a difference four weeks make. There is some swelling which is expected,  but my tops fit a lot better as I no longer have a muffin top.   I finally have a waist.  For those of you considering to have  tummy tuck, I would say do your research and have realistic expectations.  I'm looking forward to wearing my summer dresses once the weather warms up.

Tummy Tuck

Mar 23, 2015

Week 3 and I am back at work.  I feel so much better now. I'm still swollen in the lower abdominal area, but now I have a waist and no muffin top.  The  girdle I have to wear is cutting off my circulation and I have a constant wedgy:).  Otherwise,  everything is coming along well.

Tummy Tuck

Mar 15, 2015

This is day 13 after my tummy tuck and the pain is finally becoming lesser each day.  I was able to drive today and I am starting to gain my independence.  I'm still swollen, but it is going down and I know it will take a few months for all of the swelling to go down.

Tummy Tuck

Mar 11, 2015

I had my tummy tuck done on 03/02 and so far it has been an emotional journey.   The first couple of days the pain has been excruciating and I am walking like an old lady.   There is also some swelling as well from the TT and lipo.  It is getting better and thank goodness for pain medication. Once I feel better I will post some pictures.

Tummy Tuck

Oct 06, 2014

After six years of looking, I've finally taken the plunge to have a tummy tuck.  I have a tenative date of March 2, 2015.  The 1st time I was thinking about this, I was about 24 months post op.  Well, to my surprise (it was a blessing) I discovered that I was pregnant with my son.  Next time was about 2011 and I wasn't financially stable because I was laid off from work. This time around, I am in a better place.  I just need to come up with the funds.  I know for sure that I will have to get the surgery financed as this isn't covered by insurance.  Throughout the years  have put on some weight, but I am no where near the weight that I once was and I am determined not to go down that road again.  I will start posting some current pictures of myself as well as posting my progress regarding the tummy tuck.

My Annual Post-OP Appointment and Coming Clean

Jul 31, 2013

It's been seven years since I had my gastric bypass surgery and three years since I had last seen my surgeon.  Yesterday I finally made it to my surgeon's office and had gained 14 lbs from my lowest weight of 135 lbs.  Now that I am more stable in life after being out of work for over two years, I am in a better place and ready to get motivated again.  As I was speaking with my surgeon I felt as though I was in confession telling all my sins.  I came clean admitting that I have fallen off the bandwagon big time.  As the good doctor that my surgeon is, he comfort my fears and told me not to beat myself up and focus on the fact that overall I have done great and that coming to his office was a step in the right direction on getting back on track.  I basically just need to start living a healthier lifestyle and not dieting.  With that being said, I am glad that I have seen my surgeon and I also made an appointment with the nutritionist for a refresher on eating better.  Now that I have gone to my surgeon, I am making a vow to myself to make sure that I go to my annual appointments with my surgeon as well as visiting the nutritionist every now and then to keep me focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
