Hi! After battling with several insurance companies since 2003, I have finally gotten approval for a revision! I'll have the same surgeon, for which I'm very grateful, and a different hospital. I'll be revised from a RNY to a sort-of hybrid between the RNY and the DS. I'd gotten approval and originally had a date set for May, but the necessity for a second opinion pushed the scheduling back a bit. So...I am a Pre-Op once again...with a surgery date of July 5, 2007. This is meant to encourage all those who have been battling for a first surgery or a revision--Don't Give Up!!! I wouldn't and now am back on track again!

Hi Colleen, I was just reading your profile, and wondering how are you doing? Did you get your revision approval? Sounds like you have a good supportive husband, and a fun job (female Fraizer :o) Hope you're doing well.

Hello Colleen...thanks for giving us all your update on the WLS progress you have made thus far. If you and your surgeon feel you need a revision to your original surgery then I am sure that one way or another things will work out and you will get the services you need to make your dreams come true. Keep your chin up and keep arguing and fighting the insurance battle. As you have already lost a lot of weight once, you know how much better your life and health will be with a revision. Best of luck to you Colleen. God Bless.

Colleen: I'm so sorry you're having all these insurance troubles. It just isn't fair - you've done so great, and you were only following your doc's orders. I'll be thinking of you and praying for a quick and satisfying resolution to this. Hang in there!

Colleen, I'm sending you a huge note of encouragement and my very best wishes. I want you to know that you're lovingly being thought of today, and I'm asking God to be your source of strength even as you read this, and in the days ahead. Found Jeremiah 29:11 when I was pre op...For I know the plans I have for you...plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. I especially like the part about giving us hope...we all need lots of it don't we? Our God is SO awesome, and you are SO precious to Him!! Please hang in there.

HI Colleen - I have Aetna, too. It seems like they'll make up any excuse to deny coverage for ANYTHING...Not just WLS. Anyway- when I was first denied, I got the name of the Medical Director who reviewed my case and asked my surgeon to request a "doctor to doctor review". The person who ultimately makes the decision is a medical professional as well. So my surgeon talked to him over the phone about the need for the surgery and I was approved 30 minutes later. Not sure if this will work for everyone, but it's a good shot. The surgeon can explain to the Med Director about need for a revision. Good Luck! Keep fighting! Juliet in WA.
