Baptist Memorial Hospital (COE)

"The only thing they need is a map of the hospital. My husband had a hard time finding his way back to the room after going to the cafeteria twice. Things are not well marked. Too many staff elevators and not public elevators."

Michael King

"Dr King is a knowledgeble and caring surgeon. I meet him a a seminar for WLS that he and Dr Byars did in Tupelo. The more I got to know him I understood how seriously he wants his patients to suceed. Which means you follow the rules if preop dieting so you can have a smooth sucessful surgery and recovery. His office staff is great. He addressed the risks of surgery more than once, he makes sure you understand what you are about to do. I would rate him a 10 overall. I think surgical competence and bedside manner are both important because you need to be comfortable with the person who is doing your wls. You must know that Dr King is strict about pre-op ans post-op diet. If he tells you to do something that's what he expects from you. If you do not follow his instructions you may not have the outcome you expect. You can't blame your surgeon ifrn you do not following his rules and guidelines. This is my opinion."

Mona Carlyle

"Understanding about the emotional aspects of being obese. Maybe thinks diet and exercise is better choice. But she understood my need for this change in my life. The more bariatric patients she sees the better she will get at counseling them. UPDATE!! I was denied because she would not make a recommendation either way that I should have surgery. You would think that being obese herself and having several co-morbidities she would have a better understanding of a persons need for this type of surgery. Her diet and exersize do not seem to be working for her so why does she think they will work for me. I am disappointed in her letter to the insurance company."
