Surgeon Visit (again!)

Jan 16, 2007

Well, just when I started having fabulous weight loss results last week, my husband broke the scale. LOL To clarify, I don't think he broke it because he's too heavy. (He's 150 lbs lighter than me!) I think it was just a coincidence. So I had to buy another one. And I'm sure a few of you are familiar - I can't just go to Walmart and get one! Nope! They don't go up to 400 lbs! I had to order one online.

So due to not having a scale, I have no clue how much I've lost so far. That really sucks. Because today, this morning at 9:30 am, is my new pre-op visit with Dr. Steiner. I wish I knew before I got there what to expect. Sadly I don't, but if I were betting, I'd say somewhere between 15-20. Hopefully my spirits aren't shattered like last time with an unexpected GAIN.

But I can honestly say, this time I've done my best. If my best isn't good enough, then it's impossible. I've tried so hard.

I will report results back here this afternoon when I get home. :) How is your day going?

13 pounds, GONE!

Jan 09, 2007

I am so excited about life in general this week. I'm down 13 lbs since 1 week ago, and I couldn't be more thrilled about it. Every piece of candy I've resisted... every piece of bread I craved but couldn't have... every soda I didn't drink... is all worth it!

I can't wait until I start losing weight after surgery. I hope I never come down off my cloud. :)

Visit to Dr. Stratton

Jan 08, 2007

Well, I just got back to work from visiting my primary doctor. I had to go in and see her because she has my test results from my leg ultrasound.

The good news is, I don't have an infection and I don't have a blood clot. She thinks I just have excess fluid in my legs and feet that's causing them to swell. She recommended I try to start taking a water pill, which I think is a good idea, because I do lose a lot of fluid mass when I take them, but since I'm so close to surgery now, I told her I'd probably better ask my surgeon first, because I do know they want patients to stay hydrated.

So in summary, everything's good, and she said that she MORE THAN RECOMMENDS me to go ahead and have this surgery. I was glad to hear that. :)

More Pre-op Diet

Jan 08, 2007

I've been really hitting this pre-op diet pretty hard for the past several days. It's been difficult, to be frank. And I've had 2 moments of weakness in the past 5 days. (One involved a glass of Pepsi and the other a few Hershey's Kisses.)

I'M SUCH A WEAKLING!

But despite that, I've lost a little over 8 lbs and that's worth it all to me. I admit, I stay hungry. And the temptation to snack is very strong, but the key to conquering my temptation is staying busy.

Desperate

Jan 03, 2007

Somedays I just don't know what to do anymore. I was originally set to have surgery last August. Then, due to a misunderstanding (not on my part) at my weight loss clinic, we found out it would have to be in December. Then my husband wanted to enjoy the holidays and postpone surgery until January. Now in January, (read previous blog) I've been postponed until Jan 26th...

Then, this morning, my husband found out he has to go to Denver, Colorado with work for a couple weeks in February, so he wants me to push my surgery back to February 20somethingeth.

Will it ever end? Will I ever have surgery?

This is my body. I have to deal with this all the time. The constant changes, the disappointment, the chronic worrying, and I'm so tired of this surgery being postponed.

END RANT.

I've Been Postponed! (Jan 26)

Jan 03, 2007

I went in for my pre-op visit with my surgeon today, and I got an unfortunate surprise. I have gained 7 lbs in the last month. 7 lbs! I have been in total shock all day, because I actually thought I'd lost. So I guess it's a combination of things... a little neglect during the holidays, a lack of exercise lately since I've injured my shoulder, etc, etc.

He is also concerned about my leg being swollen. A couple weeks ago my PCP recommended I have another leg ultrasound done to see if there was a blood clot causing it. (Mind you, I did this 3 times last year! No clots!) I declined doing it for financial reasons, but of course, my surgeon wants me to do it anyways. So I walked next door to the hospital and did the ultrasound, and whaddya know... no clot!

So ultimately, he's decided to postpone my surgery until January 26th now. I'm sort of heartbroken about it, because I had everything lined up. My Mom had taken off a couple days of work, my husband has arranged to take off work, and now it's being postponed. But I keep telling myself that the surgeon just wants to be thorough, and that it is for the best. So now I play the waiting game a little longer!

6 Days

Jan 02, 2007

Tomorrow is Bari Boot camp at the clinic. I am supposed to arrive at 9:00. Wish me luck. I'm not sure what all is involved, but I a bundle of nerves already. Only 6 days to go!

New Stuffs

Dec 29, 2006

Well, I just placed my order on the BSS Website. I must admit, until today I had forgotten! Luckily though, I remembered in time for it to process before my surgery.

I can't believe I ordered $140 worth of stuff. But... that $140 will last me a long time and I won't have to worry about not having the right stuff or about my husband running to Walmart and getting the wrong stuff during my recooperation. That's one less worry I will have, and I ordered that much so because orders over $120 have free shipping.

Here's what I got:

1. Hot Cocoa (2) = $40.00

2. Unjury: Unflavored (2) = $40.00

3. Bari Pak Vitamins (1) = $30.00

4. Caramel Nut Bars (1) = $10.00

5. Fruit Punch Concentrate (1) = $10.00

Well, back to work now. I just had to write this all down so that I don't forget something.

Isopure

Dec 28, 2006

Last night I went to GNC for the first time to buy a tub of Creamy Vanilla Isopure. I also got a Gold Club card that saves me 20% on purchases during the first week of each month, and a drink shaker.

I was prepared for the Isopure to be awful, but it wasn't that bad. I expected much worse. I think I might add a scoop of sugar-free protein cocoa to it when I drink it. Maybe that will mute the copper taste.

Nutritional Decisions & Christmas Pictures

Dec 27, 2006

I just tried the Beef Vegetable flavored soup mix from my sample pack that I bought at the clinic. I'll spare you the details, but let's just say it almost came up as fast as it went down. UGH. I've never tried anything so nasty.

So far I know I want to order 2 cans of Unjury, 2 cans of hot cocoa mix, 1 bottle of BariPak vitamins, and 1 pack of orange concentrate cold-drink mix. That sounds like a lot. It's probably going to be around $150 total after shipping, but I have to make this easy on myself for the first couple months or else I will be constantly down in the dumps.

Check out my Christmas pictures.
