Still Happy about my decision

Jun 04, 2010

It has been 17 months since my surgery and I am down 110 pounds.  I fluctuate up and down 3 to 5 pounds.....I am now weighin in at 150....it is a miracle.  I worry that I will put weight back on and I am very careful about what I eat and weigh myself often to make sure the scale dosen't go up secretely.  I need to be diligent.  I never want to be obese again.  My youngest daughter, seeing the success I have had is now considering surgery heself and is on the wait list for Canada to get the operation done.  She is only 19.  I wish she could do this with out surgery but I will not stand in her way, since it has helped me to gain a new life.

One year Anniversary

Oct 18, 2009

It has been one year since I underwent my life changing surgery for weight loss.  I am now down 101 pounds.  I feel better than I have ever felt.  I am so grateful that I made this decision and I feel like it has saved my life.  I feel like I am 20 years younger.  I went water skiiing this summer for the first time in years.  I had the strenght to pull my body out of the water.  Wow.....that was one of my big goals....to waterskii again, and I even slalomed.  I have started a support group in my area and we hold it at the local hospital once a month.  I have met some wonderful people that are on their own journey.  Thank you all for your support.   Cathy

Feeling great now 8 weeks post op.

Dec 16, 2008

I went to see Dr. Omalley on the 14th and he seems to be pleased with my progress.  I have had a wee complication with a bulge underneath my skin which he claims is scar tissue, fatty tissue and blood.  Some residual stuff from my gallbladder removal.
I am down to 213 from 255 from my surgery date.  I am pleased and would like to see another 13 pounds down by next month.  Hopefully with more excercise it will happen.
I am thrilled to be able to eat a regular diet now.  Very slow with adding new foods and making healthy choices.  It was great to be able to eat a cracker and some toast.  I had been missing that then when I ate toast for the first time I realized that the taste is not that great after all.  Funny how my tastes have changed.  Other than that I am very pleased with my progress.
