I am 56 years old and have struggled with my weight since the 3rd grade. I have lost weight many times, but always gained it back.
I have diabetis and have had big trouble keeping my blood sugar down. I am taking massive doses of insulin. I need to get it under control. My health is my biggest concern. Although, it will be great for there to be much less of me.
I am adopted and none of my adoptive family is overweight. They tried to help me, but never really undrestood what was going with me. By the time I was 16 I was going to the Dr. and being given Diet Pills and Thyroid pills to control my weight. That was the answer back in the day. In the early 80's I located my birthfamily with the support of my adoptive family. ....AND GUESS WHAT? A good many members of my birth family had weight problems too. GO FIGURE! I have to say I was glad to see that they did. It helped me understand myself a little better. Genetics plays a big part in all of this. I know we can control what happens to us, but the genetic trigger is alway there to help us along.
I am thrilled that I have finally made up my mind to start this journey. With help and support I know It will make it easier to do this.
