Support System

Apr 21, 2009

Well for my first blog post I wanted to talk about support and my personal family support I may go off into other subjects so forgive me if I start to rant. I think support is one of the requirements of the WLS. I am fortunate to have a wife who is there to support me at the same time I think she envoys me for getting the WLS done first. My wife has a BMI of around 45 and wants to do it as bad as I do, but her medical conditions diabetes etc, put her at higher risk and will take longer to get approved on the medical end. Anyway believe it or not my mother in-law who I consider more of a mother to me then my own is grate support. The WLS has brought life into my mother and I’s relationship I call her after each appointment and ask questions. I have found through my mother her experience with the doctors was much different. The one place I expected to get support was my father but I was quickly mistaken when he voiced that he was not for the WLS and being fat was a lifestyle. This immediately blew me back and totally changed my view of him. All of a sudden I realized that I was doing the right thing and my childhood was full of blatant neglect of health. So what I’m trying to say here, is that make sure you have a major support system in place very early and don’t assume people will support you because you may be surprised.
