3 Weeks Out - Struggling a L'il
Jul 08, 2011
Hello Folks - I am just learning my way around this website so I hope this goes somewhere in a public place where people can see it. I had a RNY on June 13th. I did not realize it was going to be so... intense... after surgery. I am still in the pureed food stage and will be for about two more weeks. Eating has become a chore (maybe that's part of the game plan - smile). Everything (except water) that I eat seems to land like a rock in my stomach. After two spoonfuls I feel bloated and have to stop. Sometimes I can't finish much more. I belch and fart continuously too. Eating used to be enjoyable (maybe that's how I ended up at 250 pounds at 5'3"...LOL) and now I dread it.
I was wondering if others experienced this and about how long it took to go away?
I have lost near 30 pounds since June 6th, which is when I started the liquid diet. I am having a hard time getting the protein I need because I take in so little. I can't tolerate any artificial sweeteners since surgery so protein shakes are out of the question for now. I tried a non-flavored protein that I mixed with fruit juice and ice in the blender but two sips bloated me so badly I couldn't drink even a quarter of it.
(Sorry about the whining - I am hoping that perhaps if others experienced this and it has subsided I will feel more hopeful)
Thanks for taking time to read. Pam
