I had my 3-month visit a few days ago

Jun 20, 2009

I'm not quite 3 months' out, but Dr. A was going to be out of the office at a convention during my actual 3-month surgiversary.

They asked if I could come in early (at 3:30) and then once I got there they weren't able to see me until 5 (they got super busy).  Normally that would irritate me...but not this time AT ALL.  You know why?  My friend/angel, Deborah, was there the whole time with me and we had a nice chat with the other ladies in the waiting room (we all had to wait).  It was like a DS support group meeting.  We all shared about our WLS journeys, and it was so cool.  There was one lady who was so sad and miserable...she was about 4 weeks' out.  Deborah gave her information about OH, so I hope she'll come here for support.  We said what we could to cheer her up.  Hopefully things will get better for her each day.  I know from experience how rough those first 2 months can be.

I saw Cindy (Dr. A's PA).  She said I'm losing a little fast, but she's not too worried.  She thought my labs looked great.  Vitalady thought they were a little on the low side on a few of the numbers, so I am tweaking my vitamins a little to try to improve those areas.  I'm not doing the whole Vitalady regimen, but will be increasing my multivitamin to twice a day, increasing my calcium to 3 times a day, starting dry vitamin D, and starting iron with vitamin C and copper once a day. Oh! I also got some magnesium to help avoid constipation as I've been on the constipated side since surgery...not terribly so, but I'd like to avoid it if I can while adding in more vitamins. Hopefully we'll see an improvement in my 6-month labs.

Cindy did strongly admonish me to start exercising.  I know she is right.  I have to do it.  I WILL start doing it...tomorrow.  LOL What is wrong with me???

The best part of the day was going out to dinner with Deborah.  We went to Texas Roadhouse.  Can you say "foodgasm?"  LOL  OH MY GOSH!  It was absolutely delicious.  We shared a baby blooming onion and had their amazing rolls with cinnamon butter.  I ordered prime rib, baked potato with all the fixings, and green beans.  I could only eat a few bites of everything, but I was in Heaven!  yum, yum, yum.  Deborah and I both took huge doggy bags of food home with us.  I was hoping to munch on it all the next day, but my hubby ended up eating it.

Speaking of my hubby.  He started a low carb diet last week and has lost 11.7 pounds!!  Holy cow!  That's a lot the first week.  I'm very proud of him and hope he'll keep it up.  He is about 80 to 90 pounds overweight and has a lot of medical issues.

I go back to see them again in September.  It'll be interesting to see how much Deborah and I lose by then!  (By the way--she looked absolutely fantastic!!)

I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of you at the pot luck in August.

xo,

Felicia
