10/13/2006 Ok so I thought I have the account I might as well start a Blog on here. So here is what is going on. I am in the process of starting my surgery. I have already had the nutrition eval, the psych eval, and the blood work all done in March. The only thing holding me back was my primary insurance, my secendary (Tricare) already agreed to the surgery, but my work insurance wanted another (on top of all that I had already done) six months of a supervised weight loss program. Well I started, but being that I am young, a college student, and I work full time; it didn't last long. But as of today, I no longer work for that employer, so I no longer have that insurance (which is a good thing) I now work where I have to walk 12-15 hours a day (which is good) and since I do not have that insurance anymore it meens that now I am just dealing with military tricare insurance. So my surgen's office called on Wednesday October 11th and since I hadn't talked to them in months I took it as a sign. They were just calling to check on my progress which I explained it all to them. I then immediately got off the phone with them and called my PCM at the Navy Hospital to put another referal in since my old one expired Sept 2nd. They have put the referal in today Oct 13th. Which means that I should have a decission on that next week. Then the surgen has to put in for the actual surgery. So I should have a date with in the next 2 weeks, and then my surgery would be within 2 weeks after that. The sooner the better I think. I want to get started being the new me. Plus with the holiday's comming up and me being lonely (me and my ex broke up a month ago) I need the help to keep from gaining weight. Ok that is all for now, I will keep everyone updated!
11/17/2006 So I found out today that tricare has approved me and I am scheduled for Nov. 28......that is only 10 days away! Holy crap! I can't believe this is finally happening! When I went by the Dr. the other day to have blood work done and the lady told me it would only be like two weeks until the surgery I looked at her and said "YES! I"M NOT GOING TO BE SO FAT FOR CHRISTMAS!" She laughed along with me! I was being honest......So this is a new chapter of my life starting with me not being such a big person....gaining more respect from myself and people are not going to be able to put me down as much! Wish me luck!
12/01/2006 Ok I am post op. Had my surgery Nov 28th. Went very well. Sucked because I could not get my NG tube out until the next morning because of nasea but found out could of be nasaus becasue the NG tube was comming out on it's own. Dr. Nye was mad when he found out the nurse tried to put it back in, big NO NO! I am in pain but trying hard to walk as much as possible and do my liquid diet which sucks but will be worth it in the end! Haven't had a ciggerette since monday! We shall see how long that goes! Wish me luck!
12/03/2006 Now that I am feeling better I thought I would tell all about my hospital/surgery. Well we got to the hospital at 5:30...I had not been to sleep yet because of nerves. Well we get there and I turn to my mom and say I didn't bring my ID, it is in my car and you drove your car. Well we send my cousin and best friend back to my house to get it. So we walk into the temporary entrance since the hospital was so damaged by hurricane Ivan and they are still rebuilding. But there was no one in there, so me and my mom thought well let's go to admitting which was a long long walk because of all these detours. Well we finally made it to admitting to run into the woman who was going to the temp entrance to do check ins. So we walk and walk and walk to get back to the front stopping others who were comming that way too and turning them around. So we get there and I tell the lady I don't have my ID and she says "It;s ok I have copies of it right here" so she checks me in and I call my cousin and tell him to do a U turn. So we sit in the waiting room for like 5 minutes until they call us back to pre-op. Well I get back there and this nice nurse comes in and says undress completely and put this gown on. She tells me the clips in my hair have to come out since they are metal and that my little earing may have to come out. I told her Dr. Nye told me it didn't and she told me it was up to Anesthesiologist. Well he came in and put a IV in me and was making jokes. He never said anything about my earing but I told them it would take pliers to get it out. So the anesthesiologist ask me if I pregnant and I tell him no, he said well how do you know and I say I am on Depo and he is like ok well that is not for sure. He then asks have they given you a pregnancy test and I said I don't know, but I have had sex in over nine months so it is not possible. He said you never know you could be having the next proficy. So the nurse comes in and tells me to pee in a cup, I said you know I wish I would of know this like 5 minutes before he came in because I had just went to the bathroom. So I managed to go just enough for them to sick a stick in it and tell me tada I am not pregnant. So Dr. Nye thought it would be funny to come in and tell my parents "It's a BOY!" I laughed it was funny. So he told me I don't have to take my boot off my foot since my foot is broken which was cool. Then they said OK say bye to you parents and wheeled me off through hallways and into the OR. So I scooch over onto a tiny table which was warmed just for me awwww! They strap my legs down together and put my arms straight out and strap them down. Put the Oxygen sensor on my finger and the EKG stickies on my chest then put the mask on me and told me to take deep breathes, I remember taking 3......The next thing I know I am waking up in recovery with a NG tube down my throat which is not comfortable and cause me to get sick. They gave me more pain medicine and I was out again. I woke up in a room with a crazy and I mean crazy lady in the bed next to me fighting 10 nurses. My mom threw a fit and they moved me to a private room for free! I don't remember much of that day because I was in and out of it. Lot's of people came to visit and I got pretty flowers and balloons. Well that night I took the grape juice test and it was fine except that I felt sick everytime they turned off the NG tube so they wouldn't take it out and I would have to retake it in the morning. Well come to find out the reason the stupid NG tube was making me sick was because it was slowly comming out on it's own. Well the nurse that night tried to push it back in! BIG NO NO! Well they gave me the stupid test in the morning and then Dr. Nye came in and said were taking it out. I told him about the night before and he was furious, the nurse could of punctured me! Well he took it out and I was so happy. He said I could go home the next day. The rest of the time I was there I was up walking or sleeping due to pain meds. I was glad to go home, the only problem that I am having now is that clear liquids are not filling me up! Glad I go see him tomorrow!
12/04/2006 Changing to using this part as my journal since I don't like the fact that my post dissapear. I think I am going to move the ones from above down here. So I went for my first checkup today and I have lost a whole 11 pounds now that is in 6 days! I am amazed can't tell where the weight came from don't see a loss anywhere yet but hopefully soon! I am sitting here drinking a nasty protein drink and trying not to think about smoking since I have been good for a whole week and not smoked at all. I got my tubes out today and can start driving and taking regular showers tomorrow....this I was estatic about now hopefully next wed. when I go back he will tell me to go back to work! Ok will talk to ya'll later!
12/15/06 Ok I went to the Doctor on 12/13/06 just haven't had time to update. So in 15 days I have lost 21 lbs. He said everything looked good, that I can go back to work in a week and also start working out. I hate that I can only eat two bites but I knew that would happen. I am starting to notice hunger a little more, I can basically eat anything but steak now and I try to eat high in protein. Ok going to go now will update more later.
12/20/2006 Here is my update I have lost 26 pounds in 22 days. So hey I am not complaining, the really good news is that I have been cleared to work out. So watch out gym here I come! Got my first B-12 shot today and found out to take my flinstones twice a day.
12/29/06 I had my first WOW moment today....So I am at the gym working my but off as usual well as I was leaving I noticed the scale and it was calling my name... Well this was one of those scales that you have to move the weight you know. So I was about to automatically move it to 250 because I am so use to doing it, but I decided I would put it on 200 just for kicks. Well for the first time in who knows how long I am below 250...I weighed in at 245.....so no more moving it automatically to 250 ever again!!!! WOO HOO!!!!
