I had my 3rd EGD for dilation last Wednesday (3/17). I had to go to a different dr and ended up not being dilated because he said I was in pain and pulling at the tube while he was doing it, and recommened general anesthesia (yeah right!). So that Friday I was able to get into the dr who had done my first two and he was able to dilate me successfully without general anesthesia. It's been over a week now and I 'm doing well with eating, I'm hoping it stays that way. He did find an ulcer but said it's probably from the dilations, so now I have to add a medication to my 5 billion that I already take!

I'm going in next week on Wednesday to have my stricture dilated again. Everything was fine for a few days after the last procedure but then I vomitted again a few times and now I'm starting to have pain again so I'm not gonna wait a month to have it done again (Dr. said I needed to have it dilated again after a month if not sooner). Hopefully this one works a little longer!

A lot has happened since my last post. After that first incidence of vomiting I started doing it almost every day (if not twice a day). I've had a lot of pain with eating AND drinking and so I became pretty dehydrated and have gone in for two series of IV fluids (I'm guessing I'll be headed for at least one more). I have also missed a lot of work and school because I've been so week and dizzy from the dehydration. I had a barium study last week that showed a narrowing in the opening between my stomach and small intestine so today I had an upper endoscopy done and had it dilated (went from only a 4mm opening to 8mm). I already feel better with drinking today Yay! I go back to see my Dr. tomorrow for a follow up...hopefully everything is back on the good track now!

ACK!!!! I threw up for the first time today since surgery! I think my mistake was eating a cooked onion before eating fish (I'm not quite sure I chewed it up enough). I was soooo bummed because the fish (fresh caught walleye) was soooo good!

I am one month out from my surgery today. I have lost about 20 pounds so far (a little slower than I expected....but that's ok). I started my soft solid diet on Wednesday, it's a little frustrating because I can eat something one day but not the next, or even from meal to meal (still sticking to just yogurt for breakfast). 99% of my surgery pain is gone which is awesome!

It's done! I had my bypass done this morning. I feel a lot different than I thought I would. My pain is pretty tolerable. I am not hungry at all (yay!). Everything went well is what I hear. The only thing that I can't stand right now is this stupid urinary catheter! I can't wait until tomorrow morning when it comes out!

Tomorrow is the big day!! In less than 24 hours I will be in surgery! I am on my clear liquid diet today...which is sooo much fun (I feel sorry for all of you that have to do it for 10-14 days pre-op!). I still don't think reality has set in for me...I'm sure it will in the morning when I'm being wheeled into the OR.

Well, Saturday (12-5) marked 3 years since I've had my band. My insurance company approved my revision to a bypass and I will be having that done next Wednesday (12-16). Reality hasn't really set in for me yet. I can't believe I'm going through with this, but I totally trust my doctor....that's the main reason why I decided to go this path.
