Well, my band is now officially out of commission.  I had to have it completely emptied again because it was starting to cause the same problems with my esophagus (from GERD).
I am now in the process of getting approval from my insurance company to have the band removed and convert to gastric bypass.  This is something I would NEVER have considered before, but I've gotten a taste of the weight loss and I want it to continue (or should I say start again).

Another fill, 0.3 for a total of 1.0.  No weight loss since last fil (no gain either :)
I had surgery on my elbow in December so I haven't been as active (OK, not very active at all!)

Friday (12-5) was my 2 year "Bandversary" and I'd like to say I've lost more than I have...but I guess that's what problems do to you...set you back.  I think I'm getting back on track now though.  I've lost about 10lbs since my last fill about 6 weeks ago and I had another 0.2cc put in today for a total of 0.7cc (I know, it doesn't sound like much but I CAN feel it!)...we're going slow which is perfectly fine with me :).

Just an update:

I finally had my motility test done in September....it's was the worst test I've EVER been through!!  I got my results a couple weeks ago and it showed a mildly decreased function in my esophagus and also spasms.  So, my Dr. gave me four choices: 1. Leave the band in and do nothing 2. Take the band out and do nothing 3. Try the band again but this time very slowly 4. Convert to bypass.  I decided to try the band again and got my "first" adjustment on Thursday (only 0.5cc).  So now I'm on liquids for a week.  It's weird because I can already feel a difference even with just liquids....I hope this isn't a bad sign!  He said there's a good chance of having problems with my esophagus again.

Well, I'm sitting with my band completely deflated.  I'm supposed to get a motility test on my esophagus before my dr will do anything with my band.  I was going to have it on Wednesday.  I called my new insurance (which I was forced to get thru the University) on Tuesday to make sure it was covered.....turns out that anything to do with my band is not covered.  Great.  I'm really sick of everything going against me lately.

Band totally deflated due to a dilated esophagus (I had been having pain and vomiting when eating for the last 1 1/2 months).  Back to liquids for 3 weeks!

Today is my One year anniversary!!  Band-wise things have been going well.  I feel I'm at a good restriction level right now.

I gained about 5 pounds because of a medication on was on and haven't been able to go to the gym lately because of my back/leg pain.  I'm dissapointed about that but I'm working on fixing it!  I have a herniated disc from a car accident I was in 7 years ago and it's been acting up for the last few months and causing pain in my hip and down my leg.  I'm really anxious to start feeling better so I can get back to the gym!

Got another fill today... 0.2 for a total of 2.4cc in my band.  This is where I was at when I was too tight so I'm hoping it works out this time.

UPDATE:  I had an upper endoscopy done by my GI doc on Friday.  The only thing it showed was erythemia in the lower third of my esophagus and pain when he put air in-which are both things I had previous to surgery.  So yesterday I went in and got .2cc taken out of my band.  And today I'm VERY happy to say that I was able to eat breakfast AND lunch for the first time in 6 weeks!!  I'm hoping now that I can eat properly and healthy that my weight loss will get kick started again.

Also, back to the gym on Monday (maybe even this weekend).  I was at my cousin's in Madison this week.  I did go running with her and her husband though and also walked the campus (LOTS of hills!).

 Pouty FRUSTRATED

That's me!  I went in today for a little bit of an unfill.  Well, we did a swallow test (drank a little bit of barium under fluro) first and he said everything looks fine.  Ended up not taking anything out and going home with 2 new prescriptions for reflux.  They better work...cuz I still can eat anything solid for breakfast (I know this is normal) OR lunch!!
