Goodness I didn't realise I never posted an update after surgery. I'm doing terrific. The surgery went great and I felt pretty good after surgery. My roomates who had the same surgery were having a difficult time eating and controlling the pain and also nausea, but I haven't had any trouble like that. I've lost 57 pounds since my first check in in March and about 30 since surgery.

I haven't found anything I can't eat yet. I mostly eat proteins. I do splurge on Taco Bell soft tacos, but I get rid of most of the shell before I eat it...Yummy.

I'm taking some great vitamins now. I had been taking Centrum Chewables which were good, but not very tasty. I moved to Celebrate Bariatric Supplements. I couldn't stomach the Calcium Citrate Wafers from Vitamin Shoppe so I tried the Celebrate ones and I also bought their multivitamins and iron/vitamin C. They all taste good...not great, but at least I don't dread taking them. After all how effective are suppliments when you avoid taking them?

I had my final appointment on august 4th with psych. I passed that and called the next day for an appointment. Of course I had to leave a message as our clinic is very busy. I got a call monday 8/11 and got an appointment on Friday 8/15.

The appointment went great. I have to do a 3 week liquid protein diet. Only having slimfast high protein shakes or Boost glucose control. I can have sugar free jello or sugar free popsicles, but only 1 a day. this diet is supposed to shrink my liver and make the laprascopic surgery safer and easier for my surgeon.

So my date is October 8th. 5 days after my 31st birthday :)

I finished all my required appointments and now I am waiting for another Dr. appointment (surgeon). this next appointment will give me a surgery date and all of my preop information. I'm excited. I think the timing couldn't be better for me as my 3 kids start school again soon and the bus stops in my front yard so I won't have to drive them. I'm guessing sometime in October. My birthday is the 3rd and honestly if that's the first date offered...i'd take it :) although I'm thinking it will be later in October just from what i'm hearing from others at the hospital. (Portsmouth Naval hospital)NMCP.

For now I'm working on eating better and exercising. i've only lost 11 pounds, but it's something anyway.

I waited a little more then 4 months for the call from the Naval hospital. My waiting list number was up and my appointment was Monday. I saw Dr. Barker. I hadn't seen this Dr. at the Support group Meetings or the orientation so at first I was concerned. Turns out he had a great bedside manner and didn't talk down to or lecture me. He spent about an hour with me and my husband talking an answering questions. 

Now I have a checklist of things I must get done to move onto the next step in the process. I already did the EKG, chest Xrays, and Lab work. Not I need to scheudle appointment is Nurtrion and Psycology. After those appointments I can call to make my preop appointment. 

I'm very excited..also part of my checklist is to lose 15 pounds. I can do this!

I'm a busy mom to 3 great kids (10,8, and 5). My husband is in the Navy and we've been happily married for 13 years. I'm just beginning my weightloss surgery journey. I've been overweight most of my life. I've spent a lot of time and money on dieting. They work for a little while and then I tend to gain it all back. I want a permanent solution...I've tried everything else and this is truly a last resort for me. I want to play with my kids and go to Busch Gardens and not be out of breath the whole time. I can't wait to be healthy...I'm on a lengthy waiting list right now, but while I wait I'm taking nutrition classes and attending Support Group meetings so I can be ready when it's my turn.
