I started gaining weight when I was only 7 years old. Although there appeared to be no reason for this, my growth (as in height) also slowed and before long I became a short chubby little girl who liked to read far more than she liked to go outdoors and play. Medical testing in my teens ruled out any identifiable causes and began a life-long cycle of yo-yo dieting that has acomplished nothing but comprimised health and a higher reading on the scale than would likely have been the case had I just been content to be 20lbs overweight sometime back in 1980 or so.
Until now my weight has failed to slow me down, and I can look in the mirror and see the attractive curvy woman I am. But things are changing as I enter my fifties. Sleep apnea, joint pain, and lack of energy is sapping the joy out of life and I'm about ready to call defeat. I just can't keep up with people the way I used to.
A very good friend recenly had surgery, and it's fueled a litle spark that started simmering about a year ago. Maybe weight loss surgery is the only answer.
I want my life back.
