FIVE WEEKS TODAY!

Jan 19, 2011

I can't believe it's been five weeks already!  When I started the pre-op diet, I remember thinking to myself, "how am I going to get thru this for the next 4 weeks?"  But one day turned into another, then there was THE BIG DAY, and after that I got so wrapped up in making sure I had enough fluids, protein, vitamins, calcium & D, B-12...& going back to work...the time has flown!  Thankfully, I've had NO problems at all, and I have now lost 31 lbs.  I feel much more energetic, "clearer" in my head, and people are really starting to take notice of the weight loss.  Today I went thru my closet & spent several hours trying on clothes, DISCARDING some (too big!!), & moving some that haven't fit for a few years to the NOW FITS side of the closet.  I off my pain medicines for fibromyalgia, arthritis & restless leg syndrome...GONE!  I have dropped my CPAP setting by one already, & my neurologist thinks within 6 months I won't need it at all!  (Oh, happy day!)  Perhaps WLS isn't for everyone, but I am grateful every day for the existance of the VSG, my Dr.'s skill & his followup team, for the insurance being willing to cover it 90%...& I would have done it years ago had I known how great it all is!  Looking forward to the next 6 months & the changes it brings.

On the road...

May 21, 2010

Well, today I turned in my info packet & I'm on the way to having gastric sleeve surgery.  At least, that's what I THINK I want.  (Alot of people have told me that gastric bypass is the way to go...I don't know.  There's something inside me that says not to mess around with permanently rearranging my system. )  I have about 90 pounds to lose.  My motivation now to lose weight is to GET RID OF THE CPAP MACHINE that I have had to use since Jan.  HATE IT doesn't begin to describe!  Any tips/ideas/thoughts for me as I begin this journey?
