Hi,
I am new to obesity help. A year and half ago I was scheduled for lapband surgery and cancelled it. My husband was worried about doing gasric bypass surgery and felt that the lapband would be safer. I was confused about what to do so I held off. I have rheumatoid arthritis and stage 2 mild diabetes. Now is the time to get the weight off once and for all. I have struggled with weight all my life. I have done the yo-yo dieting for way too long.
It finally hit me on my 45th birthday in November. My husband took me shopping and I could not buy anything. I am sick of having to buy clothes from "speciality shops" or having them custom made. Fat people like to look well dressed too and in the Boston area there is nothing special out there.
So, now having a crappy birthday I came to the realization that it is time to do something about it. I called back my doctors office and made my appointments and this time for the RNY.
I am more confident about my decision to have gastric bypass. I will post more when I have more to report.
So, now I should tell you a little about myself, besides starting weight watchers at the age of 10. I have been married for 22 years to my wonderful husband Peter and we have a beautiful 16 year old daughter Alex. Peter and I work together in Commerical Real Estate and I also do Photography on the side as well as being a Teaching Asssistant at New England School of Photography.
I am a very active person, which I guess is a plus on my side. I went to Italy at the end of September 2006 on a National Geographic Photo Expedition. The whole week was geared toward street photography. It was awesome. Took some great pictures and met some wonderful people. One person I met was from California and she recently has RNY about 9 months earlier at age 65 and was doing very well. She told me that she could not believe how well I do with keeping up with all the walking and lugging equipment for someone my size with the Rheuamotoid Arthritis and Knee replacement. Photography is my therapy. When I am shooting, I forget the pain that I am in or that I am so fat. That is enough about me for now. I will start adding more info in the blog.
