Lost track of my weight when I hit 286.
I am waiting for presbyterian to send me the enrollement package.
I have already confirmed that they will cover the surgery, and it will be in Lubbock Tx.
Spoke with the coordinator at the texas tech hospital in Lubbock, she is going to send me their packet.
Her name is Virgiania, a very nice lady. Said that as soon as I am covered, fill out the packet and they will get on it.
Hoping that I do not jinx this by talking about it:))

Sept 11, 2006. Ok, I have been sent to "phone dungeons" for the last two weeks, finally got a real live person at presbyterian!
She is sending out the insurance packet. Not sure how I got lost in the system, but it happens.

September 24, 2006.
Filled out the pre-screening packet for the insurance.
This is step one of three.
Just tredging along.....

October 6, 2006
Pre-screening went through, received the packet to to enroll, this is step two. Once that is done, onto the last phase.
This may sound stupide, but as much as I need to have this surgery, am fighting myself.
Such a big change is scary, but I pray to not let myself stand in the way.

Jan 12, 2006,

Got approved for state coverage insurance and am enrolled in pres healthplan!  Coverage begins Feb 1st, planning ahead now, but not planning results!

Sep 30,2007,

Good thing I never planned results!!!! Lets just say that Pres bit the big kahuna, and bit it hard! Ok, that is harsh, but talk about a kick in the gut. I know it has been a loooong time since posting.
After enrolling, and actually trying to give dieting and medication another round ( My doctor said that it would look better if that showed up on my medical records when trying to get the surgery ) I decided it was time to pursue the wls again.

Guess my higher power thought otherwise.
To make a long story short, after the agent(s) told me that the procedure was covered, but I needed a pre authorization, I got the calls that they do not cover out of state benefits, etc. Then the letter of denial.

I was going to fight it, but because this is such a new program, even attorneys who make a living going after insurance companies for this were not familiar with state coverage insurance.

But hindsight is 20/20, let me tell you what is happening now.
I am now covered under another insurance company and am attending the seminar in El Paso on the 6th of Oct, and the insurance company had already approved to pay for the consultation.

What makes this even better, is when I have the surgery it will be just an hour away, not 6.
So my loved ones can still be close, and there is just a short ride home.

I have been wanting the surgery since 2001, trying to get it since 2002, now in 2007 I am ready for it.
Blessings,
Rachael
