Hey my name is Cindy, I am 22. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, last January. They tell me I have had it my entire life, but last year it took over my life. Since last January I have gained 140 lbs.

I have tried losing weight and I have had no luck, it comes right back. Stress and anxiety levels have been on HIGH since Jan 06. I got to the point where I was trying to diet and keep up with my thyroid levels and having attacks 3 n 4 times a day, not being able to deal with so much stress and making sure what I eat is strictly to my diet.

I am a full time student, and use to work full time as well. I quit my management position last august, due to stress, depression and overwhelming anxiety attacks.

Adding to my problems, due to the increased weight gain I now have nerve damage in my mid-lower back, right leg and foot. I have lost interest in anything I had even known to be fun. I feel like so much has been taken away from me since Jan 06.

I do all I can right now for my health like seeing doctors after doctors, physiatrists, physical therapy and constant blood work. Still I feel like I never had chance to give this thyroid thing a run for its money!

After I had a MRI done on my back last month to check out the nerve damage, it was then that my doctor requested that I look into gastric bypass surgery. I am all aboard!!

I feel this lifestyle of change is what is needed in my life, while also knowing that this surgery will not fix the fact that I am Hypo, I know it will give me a better chance to fight and exercise like I want (with no nerve damage!!), after losing weight.

Living this lifestyle will help me in many areas in my life, all leading to a better healthier life.
