About a year ago after years of struggling with my weight and yo yo dieting I finally decided to talk to my doctor about weight loss surgery. I had seen the commercial for the lapband and told her I was interested. It turns out her receptionist had recently had the surgery. After a year spent trying to get my thyroid under control and a low cal diet I finally got a referral! My initial consultation was 1/18/08. Dr. Kramer, who has had a gastric bypass himself, seems to think I won't have any problem with insurance approval. I have to have a sleep study, gall bladder ultrasound and attend several nutritional education and support classes. It seems like alot but I'm hoping it will be worth it in the end... I want to be healthy for myself, my husband and my kids.
