Gratitude & Forgiveness!
Nov 25, 2025
Lately, I have been thinking a lot about gratitude and forgiveness. It seems like this time of year sends me into a sentimental frame of mind. I reflect on the year that is about to wrap up, evaluate my relationships, and set goals for the year ahead.
When I sat down to reflect, I was surprised to learn that I need to forgive some "minor" infractions. I'm a very busy person and not inclined to hold grudges. As long as we live, people will do things we'd prefer they didn't do. I'm sure I have done things others don't like as well - not that it's intentional.
So, I gave myself permission to release anyone that has harmed me or wronged me in anyway. On an intellectual level, I already knew that most people had no idea they had hurt me or simply did not care. Emotionally, I discovered there were some wounds that still needed to be acknowledged and healed. After all, I’m not a robot ;)
Whether we would like to admit it or not, we’re all sensitive people – some much more than others. Focusing on gratitude and extending grace and forgiveness can be a freeing exercise to improve mental wellness and even help curb emotional eating. I recommend spending a few minutes of quiet reflection every so often to consider what may be eating you instead of what to eat next. If nothing else, you will feel emotionally lighter. I know I do!
