The usual!  I just turned 31 and realized the years are going by fast!  There are so many things I want to do!

I'm mostly a happy person. I have great family and friends, good job, and my little dog.  I just feel unhealthy and like my weight keeps me from doing things in life.  I have been overweight my whole life.  Tried every diet, sometimes successfully for a while but never maintained.  I always said I would not get WLS.  After a few friends had it, and I saw how successful they were, I started thinking about it.  When I do a lot of reading and see all the possible complications, I start to wonder if I made the right decison.  The jitters!!!  They get worse the closer it gets!

When I had finally decided to go for it, I went with Winchester Hospital and Dr. Ameri.  He has been fantastic from the first meeting.  His staff and nurse are also wonderful.  They made me much more comfortable.  They have monthly support groups and patiently answer all my questions when I call.

Luckily I have great health insurance too.  Thanks BCBS! They approved me with my first letter.  There are so many visits too.  Consult with Dr. Ameri, the cardiac clearance appointments (stress test, ekg, echocardiogram), the pulmonary clearance, bloodwork twice, the GI Test, the mental health evaluation, the nutritionist appointment, the appointments with my pcp.  For a while, getting all that done was my focus and drive.  Now that I'm done with that part, and its in sight, its nervewracking.  Pre-op appointment at hospital next Monday, preop-op appointment with my surgeon next Tuesday.  Surgery the Monday after that.  Less than 14 days.  Now I will try to focus on the liquid diet.  I think this is beneficial in many ways.  Its good for me to realize how much my life focused on food!   I also feel like I'm saying good bye to some foods and my current lifestyle.  Sad but very exciting!  Searching for the best most affordable protein and vitamins is the new way I seem to fill my time.  I am also learning to crochet.  My goal next year is to be more healthy and fitness focused!  This will be my happy new year!
