2 year anniversary

Oct 13, 2011

Well I am officially 2 years out from Gastric Bypass surgery and I had skin removal surgery from my arms and chest/back about 6 weeks ago.  The arms healed up really quickly and look great.  The scar is in the perfect place on both arms and its really just a pale pink color that isn't very noticable at all.  My chest/back is a different story.  I continue to have pain in my chest and the incisions are still healing.  Most of the pain is from the liposuction, or so my surgeon says.  The liposuction made the tissue mega-hard and it is slowly softening up.  I am overall happy with the chest but I'll have to have a little bit of revision done when I am done healing due to one nipple being lower than the other.  My surgeon says that he will do any revision work I need done for free if it can be done in his office and if I have to undergo anesthesia then I'll only have to pay the facility charge and anesthesiologist fees.  I'm feeling pretty great.  I found some compression undershirts on Amazon and they really help smooth out my spare tire area so I look better in clothes.  The undershirts are really tight but not uncomfortable at all.  I wear them when I run and it makes it so much easier without the jiggle.  I am probably going to wait at least a year before I decide on the Lower Body Lift to take care of the excess skin on my mid-section.  I really want to do it but I have heard from lots of folks that I may need to take off work for several weeks after that procedure and I'm not sure I want to do that any time soon.  I lost around 5 pounds from my skin removal surgery and I weigh around 225 lbs now.  Still want to drop another ten pounds or so but I'm not worried about it.  Gastric bypass was a godsend for me and I have never once regretted getting the surgery.  I have gotten to where I can eat more food at one sitting so I am trying to be more careful about what I eat.  I need to lay off the sweets but it's hard.  I really like soda and drink way too much.  If I could stop with sugar drinks and just drink water I would probably drop weight easily.  Good luck to everyone who is considering the surgery or recovering.  My life has improved dramatically since losing the weight and I am happier now that I've been in 20 years.
