OH MY God --can't believe how good i feel

Jul 24, 2007

Had surgery on 7/17/07.  First on the schedule at the hosp. by 5:30---in my room by 11:30.  Other than the pain i expected, it was such a good experience.  I was up walking by that evening.  Had the most wonderful nurse who had undergone this surg. 13 months ago.  She knew excactly how i felt, and makes it her goal to make you as comfy as possible.  With the magic of about 5 pillows and an adjustable bed, I was so comfy during that evening that i actually slept for 3 hours straight.
Went for the leak test the following morning, it was vile stuff to drink, but over so quickly.
Returned to my room , and within minutes was met by the surgeon.  He told me because i was doing so well that i would be allowed to go home later that afternoon if my temp stayed down etc.
I was released that afternoon, and every day since has been easier.  At 7 days out, i am feeling just great.  I hope it stays this way!
Tomorrow i start the pureed stage 3 diet.  Will be nice to add a tiny bit of variety.

Date Changed--but not too far away....

Jul 06, 2007

My date was changed to the 17th of July because the doctor needs to be out of town immediately following what was my original date.  I feel better knowing that he will be nearby in the few days following.  I am getting nervous , but so far have been able to keep that in check.
Had my bloodwork and chest x-ray on Friday, so that was the last of the prep.  Now I just need the next 10 days to fly like the wind.  I decided yesterday that I am only going to take a little less than 2 weeks off from work if everything goes smoothly.  Keeping my fingers crossed!

I have a date!

Very excited here!  Got my sugery date today !  July 12th is the day for me!  I have lost 16 pounds in the last 2 weeks---trying to make that liver nice and lean before hand. I am hoping to get below the 300 lb. mark before surgery.  That would only be 14 more pounds in the next 6 weeks.  I think I might be up for the challenge.

Tomorrow may be the Day!!!

Fingers and toes are crossed here!  I am hoping that I will hear from Dr. Koren's office tomorrow!  They asked me to fax some additional info on Friday and I am hoping that my insurance company is going to give them a speedy response.
I have spent the last week taking off about 8 pounds through careful, careful watching.  I would like to lose another 5 before I meet with the doc for my final consult.  (This will put me where I was when i had my initial consult almost 2 years ago.)
I am excited and scared about the prospect of being approved.  I am so desperate to make the lifestyle changes that allow me to be a more complete parent to my child.  I do really well with the exception of being able to bike ride etc.....and keep up with my husband and son without being ridiculously winded.
Will update when i have approval.
