How did the decision for WLS begin for me?

Sep 22, 2009

As i approach the time  for my surgery, i am pondering why i decided to even go on thie journey in the first place. well, its starts back a few years.....

About 2005, i went to the amusement park with my kids and was going to go on the rides with them. i boarded the ride with my kids, and the RIDE WOULDNT MOVE! I  was in the first car, and the rollercoaster just simply move. The park attendant asked me to leave the ride, and talk about being embarrassed, not only for myself, but for my kids! i felt so bad for them. i went to my PCP for a regular checkup, and told him of the experience, and he mentioned WLS surgery back then. I scoffed at the idea! so life went on....

in 2006 my mother had terminal lung cancer, and i devoted most of the year taking care of her, and she passed on labor day 2006...

i didnt go back to the doctors until 2007. i went in october 2007 to my PCP because my feet had swollen to the point i couldnt walk. i had gain weight, and i was in terrible health! i found out i had sleep apnea, and i was hypoglycemic. wow. my PCP got me all straightened out, and mentioned WLS surgery again. i was like, well, um, i dont think so.

well, we heading into 2009.  i was watching big medicine on the discovery channel, and i thought, wow, thats me!  i had sleep apnea, on a cpap, taking 2 dieuretics, and not well! i am only 34! so i finally decided to go ahead with the surgery, and now here i am. i got the authorization, and i am awaiting the day to come. what a ride!
