Hi. My name is Amy. I am 52 and have been overweight most of my life. Losing weight then gaining it back. I currently weigh about 239 with my highest being 255. I have severe arthritis in my knees and need knee replacement because I have no cartilage left and it is bone on bone. I feel that if I can lose weight and keep it off I can put off the surgery on my knees until I am older.(My Dr. doesn't like to do it on people under 60 unless absolutely necessary.) I have been reading alot of the blogs and what everyone has to say. I also know several people that have had the surgery and even one that has had a revision and they have been really helpful in making this decision. I finally registered to attend a seminar on 3/3/07 with Dr. Nilesh Patel in Corpus Christi, TX and am really looking forward to hearing what he has to say. More later

Much has happened since I wrote the above. I have been assigned a doctor with Tricare Prime and I really like him. He is Dr. Kent Van Sickle. I have almost completed my required testing and am hoping that I will have my surgery sometime in August or September.
