At Goal

May 03, 2008

I am there finally. I didn't think that I really cared if I lost that last lb., but now that I have I feel like I have accomplished what I set out to do. Now I hope I can maintain and not lose any more weight. I really don't want to lose any more.

I will let myself get down to 130, but that is as low as I want to go, unless I can start increasing my muscle mass by exersizing, but I really don't see myself doing that either. That is one reason I got in the shape I was in to begin with.

Almost There

Here it is the first week of April and I am almost to goal. I have lost a total of 5 lbs in the month of March and only need 4 more to make goal. WHOO HOOO!!!!!!

Almost to Goal

Mar 03, 2008

Okay all I am down to 144 lbs and only 9 lbs to goal. I have a NORMAL BMI. I haven't had a normal BMI in 34 yrs. I love it and hope that I will be able to maintain soon. I am trying to add some carbs into my diet and slow down the weight loss. I still have little to make it to goal, but I want to take it slow now and if I never lose another lb. I will be happy as long as I can maintain where I am now.

WOW so much has happened since I had the surgery and thought I should post something. I am down to 154 lbs. and wearing a size 10-12. I haven't been this small since after I had my 2nd child 31 years ago. I still do not feel like I am any different than I was before except that I am not in as much pain as I was before. My back, hips, and knees don't hurt all the time like they used to. My knees still hurt some but not enough to take something for it. The pain now is like when I had taken something for it. Now I can go to the mall and actually walk the full length and back again and not have to sit down at every bench.

This surgery is really great so far. I am never really hungry, I just feel like I NEED to eat something occassionally. I am having a little trouble getting in enough protien, everything makes me nauseus (sp?). The smell of meat cooking makes me not want to eat, so I wait a little bit and then try to eat it.

I am hoping this will get better eventually and I will be able to eat more when I get to goal. My goal is not far away, only another 19 lbs. Yeah!!!!

Hopefully I will post more sooner than I did before.

Thought I should update a little. I was released from the hospital on Thursday the 30th and we came home on Saturday. I was so happy to be in my own bed. I am not having any problem sleeping in my bed, so many said that they had to sleep in recliners when they came home and I just can't get comfortable enough in a recliner to sleep.

I haven't had to take any pain meds since Wednesday evening after surgery and haven't felt any pain really, just some discomfort from gas.

I loved the hospital except for the fact that I had to stay in the Recovery Rm. for 36 hrs. because of no beds. The hospital was full up. In recovery I had my own nurse who talked and talked. I was finally able to walk around on Wednesday and I mean I walked 6-7 times that day and once they took the cath out I was up a lot to go to the bathroom. The Dr. VS was wonderful. He and his entourage of residents would come around every morning and sometimes in the evening also. They all seemed to be very caring and let me know what I needed to be doing.

Well I 'll post more later and by the way when I got home and weighed I had lost 12 lbs. in one week.

Surgery

Aug 24, 2007

I thought I had better update, since my surgery date is just around the corner. I just got the call from the hospital and I am scheduled to be there at 6:30 am. We will be staying with my SIL and her husband. They are the greatest people and are so supportive.

I was a little worried Wednesday, because just as I was leaving SA, I received a call from a doctor on the surgical team asking all kinds of questions. He told me that my surgery may be cancelled because I had not been on the CPAP for at least 3-6 months. I told him I had just found out that I have mild sleep apnea and was called Monday morning about getting the CPAP machine and I had declined it because I was going to be having surgery and wouldn't need it then. He told me that didn't matter that the surgern may still cancel. I then called Claudia Glass about it and she told me not to worry that she would look into it and get back to me. She called me back Thursday and said Dr. Van Sickle wasn't cancelling the surgery and today I got the call for the time of the surgery.

It has been a very stressful week for me and I didn't want to post anything about it because I was afraid it would be cancelled. Now that I know it isn't I am so releaved and ready for it to happen.

I GOT MY DATE 8/10/07

Aug 10, 2007

Claudia Glass from the Dr.'s office called today and gave me a date. I am so excited and I only have 2 1/2 weeks to wait. I really can't believe it, I thought it wouldn't be until next month because it is so late in the month. Next Tuesday is going to be very busy, with both the NUT appt and going to SA for my pre-op appt. I am so excited I can hardly stand myself.   Bouncy 5 Bouncy 5 Bouncy 5 Bouncy 5

Cardio Clearance

Jul 17, 2007

Well I got all my cardio test done today and the Dr. said she would fax all the information to my surgeon this afternoon. I sure hope she does 'cause I really want this to happen soon.

I have had all the lab work done and have gone for my second sleep study (I found out I have mild sleep apnea.) and should be going to see a cardiologist on Tuesday July the 3rd. I was supposed to see her this past Thursday, but she got stuck in New York and I couldn't get in to see her until Tuesday now, but that is better than July 28th. That was the earliest date the first cardiologist said they could see me so I changed to the other one.

It has been really wild sometimes and I am hoping that everything will fall into place soon and my surgery will be sooner than later.

Dr. Visit

May 23, 2007

I finally met my Doctor and I really like him. He is down to earth and very informative. He went over everything and then some. All the answers to my questions were answered thoroughly. Everyone there in the office were very polite and helpful. I was seen by four different people and they all were great. Now I have an appoint tomorrow to see my PCM to put in for all the referrals Dr. Van Sickle wants done before my next appointment with him and at that appointment they schedule my surgery and apply for approval with my insurance. I know that doesn't take long to get, because my insurance is supportive of WLS.
