I am a single (go figure!), 48 year old 2nd grade teacher from central Maine. I have been "overweight" all my life, currently weighing in at about 345 pounds at 5'2' tall. I guess that qualifies me as super morbidly obese. My highest weight was 366 pounds, but I lost 80 pounds on my last attempt at dieting on my own about 3 years ago. Since that time, I gained all but the last 20 pounds back and have been fighting like mad to stay put. Since I "dieted" my way up to 366 pounds in the first place, I don't want to "diet" my way up to 400!
Right before my last weight loss, I had been evaluated for RNY surgery. I jumped through all the hoops and then decided to try once more on my own before going forward. Fastforward three years and I was again pursuing surgery as an option, but with a different surgeon/hospital.

I chose this video for my profile because of 2 lines in particular:
"Nothing changes who I am," and "Sometimes I'm clueless and I'm clumsy, but I've got friends who love me and they know just where I stand."

This surgery will change me, but it won't change who I am. The thin person is inside me - has been all these years. She is just screaming to get out. Hopefully, with Dr. Trieu's help and my determination, she will finally be free.

As for the "friends who love me" - I am truly blessed. My closest friend is extremely supportive, even through her own fear for my safety during surgery. I know she'll be there for me - always. I also have three other very close friends who are there for me. How much luckier can a girl get?
