Sigh...up and down

Jun 15, 2010

I met with Dr Brody back in April. He was REALLY nice and straight to the point. His staff was extremely helpful especially carlita. Unfortunately, I wasnt approved due to it not being a "specific condition caused by a specific disease" whatever that means so I requested a peer-to-peer. Im awaiting the results of that now. My HR person said to see if Dr. Brody can word it differently cause my job and my insurance DO cover it so Im in waiting mode at the moment. If denied again, which I have been 3 times now the other 2 were with carefirst, now Im with NCPPO, then I will try another Dr. Well, I moved to Dr. Fullum, and once again a denial due to it being an exclusion unless the obesity is caused by another disease NOT for weight loss. So SIGH Ive given up for the most part.

UPDATE!!!!
Got new insurance and already spoke with them and they cover the surgery!!! They also cover revisions and plastic surgery 18 months down the line. I go to Dr. Fullum tuesday to get my package together to give to the insurance people for approval. Wish me luck.

UPDATE!!!
FINALLY got things together. Im in the process of my 6month prestuff. Im already in my 4th month. Looking to have it either late march or late april. My insurance requires the 6month prestuff so Im well on my way
.

Well now, as you can see.  I have a surgery date of 2 weeks.  I had to appeal my first denial from Oct but they finally approved me after the 6months prestuff.  My diabetes took a HUGE turn for the worse and I have nerve issues with my vagus nerve in my stomach and developed gastroparesis so Im getting the roux-en-y with a gastrectomy as well.  My surgery date is May 6 and Im beyond excited.

UPDATE!!!!
Well it's about a month post-op.  I have a range of emotions going on.  I ended up going back for a week with vomiting and they said it was wretching.  The drs. even said I might be bulimic... "go figure".    Went back a 2nd time and found out that I had a UTI and they treated me for that and released me.  I got rather frustrated that the "surgeons" were just worried about the staples cause all they kept gving me was CT scans, egds, and barium swallows saying the staple lines are fine and everything is going in the right place.  I had asked that if I could see a gastroenterologist and urologyin as well.  Urology I did get to see and have post appt with them soon.  Dr. Robinson a psychiatrist in the surgery team came and saw me while i was in there.  He diagnosed me as having anxiety panicky issues, so he put me on ativan which is a sedative.  Seems to be working though.   BUT if I would have known it would have been this hard I would have gotten the band,
