I have been overweight most of my adult life.  As a teen, i had no problem, it wasnt until after the first baby and being miserable in my marriage that the weight started piling on.  After two kids and too many years of misery, i divorced and moved back to my home town.  I lost a lot of weight on slim fast and was back to my pre-baby shape, but once i started to eat, it all piled back on.  I remarried and had another child and couldnt be happier, except maybe to loose all this weight.  My husband hates the weight and was always on my back about loosing it.  If it were just that simple.  I have two special needs kids (now adults) and the stress i was under 24/7 for years on end contributed to the health issues and the weight.  My way of coping was to eat comfort foods. My sister in law had the duodenal switch surgery about 5 years ago, and i jokingly said i would wait to see how she did.

Once all the health issues started gettting worse, i knew it was time.  I had high blood pressure, high cholesteral, early signs of diabetes and i was always sick and tired.  My father lost a leg and half a foot to diabetes and i was not going to follow in his footsteps.  I had my gallbladder out due to stones i didnt know i had until one fell into my pancreas and had me in the hospital for a month.  On a follow up visit to my surgeon, i saw a new surgeons name on the wall that looked very familiar.  It turms out that he was running the Surgical Weight Loss Center.  I went to high school with Dr. Bonnanni and I always liked him and knew he would be good.

After a little checking, i went to an informational seminar in May of 2006 and then started jumping through all the hoops.
