This is my first blog entry although I have been a member for quite some time. I have literally visited this site day after day since first beginning my journey, but feared to blog because I was worried that this might not happen for me. I first considered GSB about a year and a half ago, but the thought faded. Then in July I got very serious about it and started the whole process as far as getting the refferal to the surgeon. I first had Regal Medical Group and they sent me to Dr. Quillici who was great, but that was not where I envisioned myself having the surgery. I changed my medical group to Monarch. (Best decision I evere made :)) My PCP was awesome... On my first visit with him he sent me for bloodwork and submitted a request to see the surgeon. My second visit I got my lab work results and my referral. I called Orange Coast Center for Obesity in the parking lot. I wanted that appt sooooo bad! I did that, but the only available date was Dec 30 and we were still in November at the time. I said ok there is nothing I can do, but wait... So today 12/30 was my appointment at Orange Coast. I attended the new patient registration and walked out of there with a smile from ear to ear. I was terrified of having to do a 6 month pre-op diet, not so much because of the diet it was the SIX MONTHS! I was praying that by some divine miracle I would only have to do a 3 month surgeon supervised diet seeing as I have Aetna and all...and to my wonderous amazement I got better news!! I don't have to do a pre-op diet for insurance approval at all!! Oh was I happy... I was prepping myself to wait and I would have, but I am the most impulsive and unpatient person I know that I feared I would have just decided to go to TJ and settle for the Lap Band there. Now I just have to schedule the Psych Eval and Nutrionist Appt and after those have been completed my Surgery Coordinator can submit my request for approval. She was wonderful BTW! I will start 2009 with a smile on my face because I know next year at this time my life will be completely different! YAY!!!
