Seen the Doc

Jul 09, 2014

Well, I went and seen the Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Chris Sanborn with Erlanger Hospital. Visit went well as expected. I have to admit that I felt ashamed to be there. I finally mustered up enough nerves to tell him so. He explained that I shouldn't be embarrassed or ashamed and tried to sooth my nerves. He stated that since I've had a history of Re-flux that the by-pass would be best, feels that it might help eliminate or reduce the Re-flux problem. Advised me of seeing my GI doctor to have upper/lower GI work up since strong history of Cancer in my family. My father passed away from Cancer that originally started in the colon. My brother had throat cancer, he was not a smoker, Neither am I for that matter. So to be on the safe side, better have these done before going forward. I have a pending appointment next week for the Gastro Group. Have a written script to have labs drown for the Bariatric Group. Seems the Surgeon didn't have a in house lab yet so, guess I'll have to see my PCP and get labs drawn. He's been in the area for quite some time, just recently moved to a larger location and still in the process of setting up a lab I assume.

Well, that where I am. Feel like I've made small steps towards my main goal. My husband is not really keen on the idea of WLS. I'm not sure how to go about talking to him about where I am with this and what my goal is...However, again baby steps toward the goal.
