8 Weeks Post Op

Aug 16, 2010

I haven't blogged much about myself since surgery.  I try to check in at least every other day, but life happens.  My OH buddies have been so important in answering my questions and providing hope and encouragement.  So, Thank you all!

As of today, I've lost 37 pounds and have 8 pounds to lose to get to Onederland!  I've had my ups and downs, but I'm so glad that I had my RNY surgery.  I mowed the yard this morning, in 101 degree heat and humidity, and I was able to do it so easily.  I remember last summer I not only couldn't stand the heat, I also had a hard time breathing and had to stop every 5 minutes or so to rest in the shade.  Not so today!  I zipped right through the front yard, back yard, and alley in no time and never had to stop.  Amazingly, my feet and back don't hurt either.  My only regret is that I didn't do this surgery earlier!

My WOW moments!:
*Crossing my legs
*Fitting into the movie theater seats
*Having room to bend over in a restaurant booth to pick my sunglasses off of the floor
*Size 22 down to a size 16 or 18
*Wearing shorts again
*My husband commenting on my pretty legs and skinnier face
*I'm now 2 sizes smaller in ring size
*My snoring is noticeably quieter according to my DH
*Hiked 6 miles up a mountain in CO

There are many more I just can't think of them all right now.  My one big negative is that I hate protein powder.  I can't do the powder of any kind and I don't care for isopure.  I hate cottage cheese and yogurt.  I've tried shakes with cottage cheese and couldn't take it.  I'm going to try greek yogurt in a shake tonight.  I can always taste the tang of the yogurt though.  My daughter says I'm crazy and I don't disagree with her!  LOL :)  I had her pick up Oh Yeah brand protein wafers today and I can't stand those either.  If anyone has any suggestions about how to get my protein in send them my way please!  I really am not hungry ever so I have to make myself eat and when I do I usually eat 1-2 ounces at a time.  I'm trying to get in 5-6 meals a day but that is really hard for me.  I start back to work tomorrow so hopefully the routine will help me get it together.

I'll try to get pics on here soon of myself now and my trip to CO.  Thanks again everyone for you encouragement and support!  I'm looking forward to more weight loss and the changes that go along with it!
