The first steps

Feb 05, 2010

February 5, 2010.

Ok,  I want to document all of everything as it happens.
Feb 3 went to meet my new Dr  (GP) I talked to him about WLS and he had no problem giving me a referral to Dr Amson in Victoria.  My sister had her GP call and get and appt too.  We are going down on March 17 2010!  I can't believe it happened so fast.  I have heard stories of people having to wait  1 1/2 years for their initial appointment, or having to convince their family doctor to give them a referral to a bariatric surgeon.  And here we are getting in in six weeks.  I am very grateful.

I booked the hotel for the 16 and 17 of March.  I get an employee discount at the Best Westerns  so I got the night for $47 plus tax.  Not bad if I do say so myself.

I am starting to do food and exercise journaling to prep for Dr A.  I am wanting to eat the lifestyle that I will have after the surgery.  I know it won't be identical, but it will help get in the routine of eating little bits more often.  I will still have to do research on the diet post op.  I am wanting to know EVERYTHING I can about this surgery.

I know that there is a waiting time of up to 3-4 years for the surgery with Dr A in BC, but my sister and I are hoping to have it done in Seattle.  They do revisions there.  I did have a VBG in 1998.  That surgery is such a joke.  They hardly do it anymore.  There are so many articles and studies stating the failure rate of that operation.
