Gulp!
Feb 09, 2009
Well, I got the call last week saying that I have a date of March 4, 2009!! I got the feeling that this was happening all too fast while knowing that I had been feeling that this was taking forever just ealier that day.
Now I have so many things to get taken care of before that day. I need to make sure I give my staff at work all the tools they will need while I am away. I have to make sure I have every T crossed and i dotted before the surgery. You know... like wills, power of attorney, living will, durable power...my head is spinning.
If you have read my earlier posts you know I had ahouse fire Holloween day in 2008. I haven;t been able to live in my house for three months. Wouldn't you know that this is the time they have decided that things need to get moving on the project. Yup, I picked out cabinets last week that will be in within 3 to 4 weeks. Funny how that correspondes with my surgery date?! I'll need to pick out all my paint colors, hardware for the kitchen, flooring for the entire house and everything else before too long. Maybe it's a great thing that I have something to think about besides the surgery.
I still have this thought that runs through my head and says that something will happen that will stop me from being able to have the surgery.

I have surpassed the original goal of set for me by an extra 10 pounds! Sometimes I think it's been too easy...okay maybe not the first three or so days when I went to bed with a growling tummy...but I have learned so much. I never put food in my mouth without knowing exactly how many calories are in it. Besides feeling great about that, my daughter is becoming more aware of what she is eating. This was one of the goals I had when looking into becoming healthier.
Now I'm getting the comments that I have done so well so now I won't need the surgery. Even my primary physician would prefer if I didn't have the surgery. Who knows?! I may chose to not have it but I know that the program and the surgery are what is keeping me motivated at this point.
This week I went to see the dietitian. She was so awesome. Actually both Corine and Ashley are great. She is ready to sign off on the dietary approval to move forward. We inch closer to a surgery date!
All of this going on. The surgery date up in the air and I'm still not living in my house due to the fire. I'n not sure which will happen first! I guess it's one day at a time and don't sweat what we can't control.

A little over a month since I started down this path and I have managed to lose 21 pounds since my original consult with Dr Loggins. The goal set for me to lose pre-op was 25 and I remember thinking that losing the weight would be impossible.
Unfortunately during this time I had a house fire and lost 2 of my best friends. Wilbur was a basset-beagle of approximately 8 years and Slim was a three year old walker hound. I am so proud that I didn't use their passing as an excuse to stop walking down this path of getting healthy though I miss my walking buddies.
At my work we recently had a bake off. I knew that there would be the usual assortment of wonderful chocolate cakes, apple pies and assorted goodies. I brought Ricotta-Spinach Cups and though I didn't win the compitition, 10 people must have asked for the recipe! Pretty tastey for something relatively healthy.
