I am 31 years old. I have been married for 8 years and I have a 9 year old son. I have been overweight for most of my life. I have been on several diets from high school on through my adult years. I have been on diet pills through my doctor, I have gone to the gym and have lost here and there, then gained it back. The past few years have been the worst. I have been sick for a while and just last year I found out that I have Lupus. A autoimmune disease that affects all major internal organs, tissues, muscles, and bones. It is controlable with medications but does not go away. With the medications though I had more weight added on to me. It affected my health. I also found out I have sleep apnea. I have always wanted to do surgery for weight loss but was to scared to. But after being told from my lupus doctor that if I didn't do something about my weight eventually I would end up in a wheelchair, I decided on the surgery. I found out all the info on the surgery and a friend of mine recommended me to my surgeon. I had my surgery on April 17, 2007 and it was the best thing I have ever done besides marry my husband and have my son.
When I left the hospital I weighed 305 lbs. I am now about 225lbs. and lots more to go. Since the weight came off, I am walking alot better. I have more energy and feel alot better.
