As far as my doctor and his staff is concerned. I like his office staff. They are polite and I found them to be helpful (returned phone calls in a timely manner) And he was very nice. I was a bit surprised that he had a NP. She saw me at the hospital and my post op visit. She is very nice, but I would havve liketo have met her beforehand.
It took me about 6 months to get everything done on his check list. Thank goodness I kept copies of everything for my own records. My pcp lost everything, forgot to fax paperwork etc. The pre op testing was a bit daunting. Blood gases was not that big a deal and I hate needles. Upper GI was gross but do-able. Really once you get the ok from Dr. O the work is all on you. I was very surprised at just how fast it went.
I think the program is very good. Boot camp and the reg. dieticians are supportive and comprehensive. I was a nervous wreck before my surgery. Bootcamp, the afternoon with the RD's and being with everyone else going through the same thing really helped.
The surgery itself was more painful than I thought it would be. He repaired a heital hernia so I am attributing all of the pain to that. the gas pain lasted 5 days tops. That did hurt. It went right to my shoulder. It was not constant. I would feel it maybe 3 times a day. Usually gone in about 15 min. I just walked the halls at the hospital and once I got home I laid in my side.
the diet progression makes sense to me and I have not even been tempted to stray. I am amazed at how fast I get full. I am at the soft food part now. I have 12 pounds since my surgery on the 3rd and I am down 25 pounds since Feb 1st, my highest weight .
