6 1/2 weeks post op

Oct 13, 2025

Today I put on a pair of my yoga pants that I used to wear all the time prior to my sleeve surgery and discovered that they are almost too big now.

I started my journey at the highest weight of 293 last November. This was after trying GLP-1s and discovering I am allergic to their contents. So I tried changing my eating habits without any success. I decided to check into gastric bypass as I needed some major changes. I want to live a long and healthy life as well as play with my grandchildren.

I started my research with my insurance company to make sure the surgery was covered. When I discovered that is was covered I then researched physicians to find the right one for me. After that I booked my initial appointment and started my 8 month journey toward my surgery date. I passed all the requirements with flying colors and my surgery was scheduled for 8/27/2025. This is a date I will never forget. My highest weight was 293. My surgery weight was 278. My current weight is 250.

I am now almost 7 weeks post-op and feel amazing. I have less joint pain and am able to do things that I wasn't prior to surgery. I have officially lost 28 pounds since surgery. I have 100 more to go to reach my goal weight.

This is the best decision I have ever made. For anyone trying to decide whether to have the surgery my tip for you is to have a positive attitude about the entire process. Don't allow the negative thoughts to hinder your life.
