03/14/06 I had my stress test, echo, nut test (lol), and have done all the doc said to do; also had my sleep test. Wow, that stress test was a scary test ....so I'll see what go's on next. I hope its a call for surgery! God bless all....Hooray!... I have an ANGEL ...thank you Hun. I'm so happy you are my ANGEL Lisa Fontes! It reminds me of daddy and my two brother's; all 3 are in heaven now. I miss them so much. It makes me happy to look at my profile and think of them. 04/01/06 WOW, I'M MOVED UP! SURGERY IS NOW APRIL 11TH. YAHOOOO!I'm happy and scared at the same time . NOW, a little about me. I'm 44 yrs old. I have 2 daughters, 18 and 23 yrs old: Karen is going to have a baby Sept 3rd, that's her due date; Autumn, my other daughter, is going to have a baby. Her due date is Oct 20Th. That's also her b-day! She has a two and a half yr old little girl La Dasha . I call her LU LU!! SHE IS A DOLL. I have worked hard for my daughters, to see they have what they needed. I hope in there hearts, they know i did the best I could. They were 5 and 10 when there daddy walked out , so its been just the three of us. I LOVE YOU MY GIRL'S! I HAVE LIVED FOR Y'ALL!!!! NOW IT'S MOMMAS TIME TO LIVE, FOR ME. OK, now for the man in the pic with me, 'NATHAN'. I met you at a time in my life when I thought no man would want or need me. SO I DID AND SHE SAYS, " I'M SO SORRY, BUT DR R HAS CALLED OFF ALL HIS SURGERIES FOR THE NEXT 2 WEEKS". I'M LIKE, "OH OK ....GEE, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE IF SOME ONE WOULD OF CALLED!". ME, OH WELL! 6/15/06... Hey Ya'll...Lol...This isn't Brenda. It's her other half. lmao! Well, the surgery went well, Thank God. This stuff is very scary! I want to cry so bad it hurts. I love my Brenda! She didn't get cut, she got it all lapriscopical! She's in a lot of pain, and yes she says's ice cubes are heaven. So is chap stick! Hopefully, I can bring her home tomorrow. She actually can walk. I hope all goes well with the test tomorrow. I want her home. She is definitely someone brave to do this. I miss her much; I love her Lot's. I'm glad I'm not speaking about her last wishes (Meaning she passed away!) This was a serious operation and it really hits home when they start to prep you for surgery. She was scared and having second doubts, but she's doing good and the best is yet to come. Now she can enjoy life and take care of her grand baby's. She's been disabled and feeling bad about not being able to do things she wants too. I just want her back home. Brenda is one of the greatest person's alive. God bless her. She's doing good, Amen. I was so scared and she was too, but all went well so far. Brenda is doing good!
6/16/06 Well, Brenda is back home!!!!!!!!!!! I went and picked her up today from the hospital. Wow two days and she's home! That doctor was good. She's still in a lot of pain. She's asleep right now, or at least laying down. There's a lot of aftercare I wish I would of planned for: The dogs want to jump on her, don't have a nightstand to put her ice cubes on, hell...I don't know how she'll get to the bathroom...Lil, etc. Well, at least she is home and recovering. I hope tomorrow she will be able to watch the birds and the rabbits in the yard. If not I will open the windows for her. I just asked her if she wanted to say anything and she said, "just tell everyone I'm in a lot of pain! See ya when I can."
6-18-06 Day 4 No, it's not Brenda! It's still her other half. It's been hell! Day 3 was hell! She hurts very bad and had constant diarrhea. To make matters worse, we had a strong thunderstorm come through and the power went out. There's so much I need to tell, but I'm so tired; I want people to know what to expect. Write more later....night! Hopefully, I can get her to sleep.
6-19-06 Day 5 Well Brenda is asleep right now. It's 1:45 in the afternoon. She is doing a little better, but still hurting. The pain medicine they prescribed makes her nauseated. Now were sticking to Tylenol extra strenght gel caplets. She sucks the liquid out. Seems to be working better than the hydrocodone. Still not much relief. I think day 3 post-op was the hardest. All the morphine and meds from the hospital wore off as did the shock of surgery. To make matters worse her bowel movements started back. Definitely invest in a portable potty-chair. She can't make it to the restroom. In fact, she's lucky to be able to get up most of the time. Although, she does get up and walk around about 5times a day or more. Another good investment has been an electric recliner. It lifts all the way up helping her to get up easier (Brenda has deteriorated knees, making things worse). The bad thing about the chair is if your power goes out like ares did. She got stuck with the chair reclined all the way back, and it took 30min for her to get out. Also it restricts movement, so it hurts her back bad. Oh, don't use icy hot or menthol pain rubs on your back after this surgery. We used it and she felt the menthol on her stomach which about killed her!! A good back pain relief I found for her is called Capzasin. It's expensive, nine dollars for 5patches; but it worked good and didn't hurt her incisions or stomach. It numbs(topical analgesic) rather than burn like menthol rubs. For nausea, peppermint herbal tea, seems to work pretty good (thanks Dana!). I use to wonder when reading profiles why it took everyone so long to write after there surgery. Now I know. Brenda hurts so bad she don't even want to look at the computer. She doesn't even talk on the phone. Slowly though she is improving everyday. Today she finally was able to get 2ounces of her protein shake down and keep it down. She's mostly had water(ice) for the first four days. When she wakes up I'll make her drink some more of her shake and take her vitamins. If you can bare the pain, try to stay away from meds. With Brenda it makes eating easier. (I say eating, but I mean drinking her food!). Well, I better go. Remember, I'm not a doctor or a nurse; just Brenda's other half. This is just our experience.
6-25-06 Well, It's the 8Th day. Yesterday was her one week anniversary! Brenda is still kicking, lol, but it's been hard! Tuesday, the 20Th, Brenda wouldn't get up. Well, not until 1:00AM in the morning! I was done falling asleep, when I said "Hell what you doing trying to get up?" She said, "Shut the hell up! You out to be glad I'm getting up!"...lmao! Anyways the next day she could get up and down alright, but now couldn't eat. We have good days and bad days. I constantly try to keep her on her schedule, even though its hard. The worse pain for Brenda has been her lower left stomach, where they put all the operating instruments in. It's still giving her hell. I think that pain at her one incision, maybe the downside of laproscopic surgery. She got a prescription for nausea, promethazine. She don't take it much though. We've found the best is to stay away from pain killers and drugs. That's what makes her the most nausea. I think Tylenol has been good. It's not the greatest, but it don't have bad side effects. OK, when do you call the doctor? Hell, we don't know! I've called them several times though, so it doesn't hurt. If in doubt call! At this moment Brenda is awake, it's midnight. She has leakage from her incision (the one that hurts!). The leakage is clear and it don't smell, so we think it's OK. The more it leaks out the better she feels. If it gets worse I will call the doctor tomorrow. The recovery for Brenda has been hell. I don't understand all these profiles that don't say anything about the recovery. They just come back in two weeks and say everything was great and I lost so much weight. Hell, our black bible on weight lost surgery says its OK to have sex afterwords and drive within 24hrs after leaving the hospital...lmao. I guess if you can do those two things you are lucky! Brenda is lucky if she can make it to the restroom, lmao...(not really). Sorry, I'm just trying to make sure anyone reading this knows what were going through. It's been hard! Hi y'all 5 Mo's out and doing OK ..lol.. i think i started this at 369 pounds I'm at 265 now at this time went from 28/32 now 22/24 .yahoo.still having had time eating but its getting better had to cut all my hair off it was falling out bad .other then that all is OK ...god bless Brenda
March23rd,07...hi y'all well I'm doing good thank god .i had total knees replacement on Feb 27,07 on both knees ,i can bend my knees for the 1st time in 25 yrs ....wow it's great my wt at this time is 203 pounds yahoo i started this wild ride at 369 pounds thank god for wls ,it has changed my life .my grand baby's are growing so fast i have to keep up with them ..lol...god bless you all Brenda ..

god was with me all the way..had to learn to walk and use my upper body again .all the time i was in the hosp i had a wound vac on my ass ,man did that hurt . came home and had home health .also home therapy .i got down to 98 pounds .I'm at 140 now and going better 
..they said all i went though had noting to do with my wls -lap-rny...but i wonder .....i have a new grand baby boy he is 6 weeks old ..i call him john-john ..would i have wls after all i have been though ...yes ,yes yes .god bless to all .Brenda in TX.....hi all....well i am doing better ..lol..145 as of the last few Mo's...i think i have another hernia,well2 of them .i need to go see Dr provost.he is in dentin now ..my little girls turned 25 and 20 this week .lol.. dame i am getting old ..lol..as some of you know i have 3 grand baby's (girls).and 1 grandson .Aaliyah was 2 Sept11Th,08....circa was 2 Sept 13Th,08.Dasha well be 5 Oct29Th ,08 .her birthday party is Sunday ....my Little john-john is just over 3 Mo's take care of all of them most 24-7 ..lol... plus my 86 yr old momma..ans a hubby ..lol.. 6 cats and 2 dogs ..lol.. so i stay busy ..lol..i miss my daddy so much ,he was a great man ..not a prejudice bone in his body ..when he held Dasha in his arms back in 2003 that was the greatest day in a lone time for him ,my daddy had lung cancer..he was to be 83 on the 6Th ,05.he passed away on the 3rd of Feb,05.. i was very lucky to have my daddy for as many yrs that i did .my momma lives with me and i love her so ...well y'all have a great day ..blessings Brenda in TX
