What a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. Justin came home Tuesday evening and it was great to spend some quality time with him. Thursday we had 5 dinner guest. Marge did most of the preparation and Justin and readied the house and yard for company. We had a traditional meal and I was able to eat some of everything. I was careful to not overeat and evening had some samples of desserts. We had a large variety of wines for before, during, and after the meal. I had my small share, got a little tipsy, and just loved the day.

Friday through Sunday, we just laid back, enjoyed videos, and did little formal work.  I managed to gain 2 pounds but I'm sure they will come off within days. Saturday, we are going to my surgeon's firm's "Bariatric Ball." I'm going as Colonel Sanders. This will be Marge's first bariatric event.

This afternoon, I'm going to the Ky. Retirement Systems and sign my papers effecting retirement on January 1. Tomorrow, I'll submit my formal letter of retirement to my boss. IT"S REALLY HAPPENING AND I'M 110 POUNDS THINNER!!!!!

I went to my first OH National Meeting in Lexington last Friday and Saturday. I had the privelege of hanging out with some other guys from the men's board: Dx, Tim, Joe, and Mike. We spent hours storying, exchanging information, and just BSing. Dx lead the men's sessions and he was prepared: I learned a great deal. He's an awesome teacher and his students are incredibly lucky. Joe is a great guy and he put us in touch with Buckeye, an Ohioan like Joe. Tim is a great guy who's fired and inspired with WLS... and over 200 pounds in 8 months. Mike, our Cards Fan, is a super guy whose wit and comments made so much sense. The other folks there, particularly the Virginia gals, just iced the cake! Lastly, Monica Ganz provided great sessions packed with some new information.

Sunday we leave for a week with friends in glorious Williamsburg. The 38s fit better. I'm now down 112 pounds. Had my 3rd cardiologist visit since my rny.

Kickin' ass meeting!!!

The NP was stunned with my results. My cardiomyopathy is gone. That rarely happens even with rny patients. All indicators in my bloodwork are now in normal ranges.

I had my colonoscopy in late August and Dr. Niegbert took one polyp and one "rhoid." I will have another one in 3 years. My weight hasn't changed over 3 pounds in two months so I guess I'm basically in maintanence. I feel good although I have slacked off the gym time. I still do plenty of yard work to make up some of the exercise.

My waist is now 39 inches. I do wear some 38 pants but they are a little snug.

I saw Dr Ed Niegbert last week for my 1 year check-up and made arrangements for a colonoscopy in a few weeks. Everything checked out OK.

Neigbert's program requires a $250 fee of all patients which offsets the "lifetime" nutritional and exercise counseling and the monthly discussion groups. They have a gym there and also take body fat readings. For a local Lexingtonian, it's a much better deal. Tomorrow, I go and have an exercise and nutitional workup.

I am down 107-108 pounds now. We recently returned from a trip to New Mexico. The plane flight was wonderful. I had no problem with hot chili or tequila. I had no problems with altitude. Here's a few pictures.

I have decided to accept Dr. Bolar's suugestion and move my chart to Dr. Josh Steiner in Lexington. He is much younger and he's not as experienced as Bolar, but he has a very good record and his partner, Dr. Neibert, has a long and solid record. I'm hoping to see him in July for year follow-up.

My weight loss is now averaging a pound or so monthly which is fine with me. My waist is 39 inches- it would probably be 37 if I had abdominoplasty, but at 56 and married 35 years, there's no need to undergo major surgery at this time. I have no rashes or skin problems at the "fold" and it doesn't pose a problem with movement. With Justin in school and retirement later this year, there's a need to not add debt.

I now have a measure of good health and a degree of fitness and I feel satisfied.

Up 3 pounds since the last post. I've been eating more bad carbs lately and I missed workouts. I'm recommitting today. Less carbs and more workouts. I've had a bad case of poison ivy and iched for days before visiting my Dr. I'm healing. Last year, this would have been very difficult.

Dr. Bolar is leaving Lexington June 20 and moving to Knoxville. I see him on the June 9 for an early 1 year visit. I'm leaning toward moving my records to Dr. Steiner, a younger, but well experienced surgeon whois affiliated with St. Joseph's East in Lexington.

I've lost another 2.5 pounds. I'm still working out and doing yardwork thats been needed for several years. The fence row from hell is now cleared! Beds which have gone some years without are now weeded, planted, and mulched. Soon, the decks will be stained.

Down 2 more pounds, but up one this week. I have missed some workout time, but I have done more strenuous yardwork. Still, I'm making more of an effort. I was surprized that a number of the "tents" I call suits can still be altered to fit, and I left two today to be altered as I picked some wool pants (another 2 inches in the waist).
